    1. [OHBELMON] Pleasant Ridge followup -- and Sandra

    3. If you guys recall, I wrote in October about my trip to Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church in Wayne Township of Belmont County. When I got home, after a bit of searching I got the home address of the church's minister and wrote to her with a small donation to the church, offering some information about the graves in their cemetery and inquiring about a stone company I might use to have the gravestones reset. Plus I wanted to know if they had any information on the graves that, if you recall, I naively used crayon on (Please! I've been sufficiently instructed! eek!) Well, I got a very interesting response. I was astounded and delighted to get a thank you card for the donation signed by members of the congregation. The pastor also called me and said there was no further information on the graves because the records were kept at some point in a private home, which had a fire. However, she did direct me to a 79-year-old member of the congregation who -- I can hardly believe this -- is the descendent of a Berry line I am looking at. Saturday I got a letter from her with an amazing bit of information: Her great grandfather in 1882 bought my gr-gr-grandfather's brother's (Samuel Berry Jr. b 1822) farm and, she says, the house *still exists*. This is especially wonderful to me because my ancestor (Jesse Berry) almost certainly lived on that farm before he went into the army in the civil war (and was killed). Needless to say, I'll be going back to Belmont County! ALSO, Sandra, I know you have John Berry in your line (d about 1829) and according to a court record, one of his sons was named Enoch. My correspondent from the church is descended from Enoch's line. Shot in the dark here, but I was wondering if you or anyone has any idea if John Berry had brothers? I'm wondering if my Samuel Berry Sr. (b ca 1776 or 1786) is brother to John Berry or another Berry (Joseph Berry), seen in Wayne township from 1820 to 1840, could be a brother. Jae
