I searched some more for Caldwell. This is perhaps Jane and Robert in the 1860 Belmont Co. census: Mead Twp. 36-34 Samuel Caldwell 56 OH Blacksmith Jane 56 PA Robert 18 OH Blacksmith James 22 OH I also went through the marriages for female Caldwell's in the 1850 to 1870 marriage book (by Wes Cochran) and found 4 marriages. One, Myra, I believe was the daughter of a Martin Caldwell (on the 1860 census). Here are the other 3 marriages: Laura J. Caldwell m. E. Frounfetter 2 Apr 1867 Mary Caldwell m. Westley T. Archer (age 20, s/o Henry E.) 13 Sep 1864 Sarah L. Caldwell m. Thomas S. Bradfield 24 Sep 1868 Two of these couples I found in the 1870 Belmont Co. census: Mead Twp. 154-152 Wesley T. Archer 24 OH Farmer Mary D. 30 WV Keep House Arta E. (f) 3 WV Warren Twp. 290-327 Thomas Bradfield 25 OH Merchant Sarah 20 OH Keep House George 11/12 OH There was a Mary Caldwell in the 1860 census who was the daughter of a Martin Caldwell...she was age 10. I also noticed these 2 in the 1860 census: Town of St. Clairsville - Richland Twp. 381-389 Mary Caldwell 78 Ire Elizabeth 44 MD Next door is a William Caldwell, age 46, b. Ireland, wife Sarah J. They also have a son, Robert, age 8. And a son, John, age 17 and dau., Elizabeth age 10. Other children. -- Bonnie Burkhardt <burkhard@flash.net> <bburkhardt@juno.com> Dogacres@webtv.net wrote: > Could some one look in 1850 and 1860 census for John and Elizabeth > Caldwell They had a son Robert and some daughters but I dont know their > names At the time of he Civil War they lived in Belmont county Your > help would be appreciated Thank you > > > >
