William was b. near Hookstown, Beaver Co., PA in 1812, s/o Alexander and Mary (LANCE) REED. Alexander was afarmer and located in Richland Co., OH, now a part of Ashland Co. in 1815. Then he went to Wayne Co., OH and finally to Kosciusko Co., IN where he died in 1861 at the age of 80. He was married for a 2nd time to Cassander KEYES after his first wife, William's mother, died when William was an infant. Cassander is still alive in Kosciusko Co. IN at the age of 90 +. When William was age 16, he went to Wooster, OH to live with William LARWELL. He stayed one yr. and then went to live with the Benjamin JONES family for 4 years in the same area. Then he moved to Noblestown, Washington Co., PA to learn the shoemaking trade from his brother, John. When his brother moved to Cannonsburg, Washington Co., PA, William went with him where he remained for 3 years. He subsequently moved to Wheeling (1 yr.); Fallstown (later known as Beaver Falls) where he married Eliza, d/o William & Cassander GRAFTON and stayed 3yrs; Little Pittsburg, Wayne Co., OH (1 yr.); Richmond, Jefferson Co., OH (7 yrs.); Burlington, IA (12 days); Pomeroy, Meigs Co., OH (1 yr.); Richmond OH (1 yr.); Peru, Miami Co., IN (28 days); Leesburg, Carroll Co., OH (5 mos.) and arrived in Barnesville in spring 1845. Has served in the Barnesville Council and is a member of M. E. Church and the Odd Fellows. Eliza died in 1875 at age 62. William married again to Eliza (LYNN) WORTHINGTON, widow of Dr. Wm. McK. WORTHINGTON. Wm. REED's children are Wesley (deceased), John W., Wm. McK., Adaline (deceased), B. P. Menander and Emeline. Emeline is married to Dr. H. W.
