Calvert Co., MD in 1822. He came to Barnesville in 1832 with his parents. He was married in 1843 to Rebecca J. JUDKINS, d/o Thomas JUDKINS. They had 10 children born in this order: Henry C., m. Anna JAMES; Richard T., m. Mary ARNOLD; William S., m. Elizabeth TROTT; Francis M., m. Priscilla J. WINLAND; Mary B.; Eugene; Sarah (deceased); Hettie (deceased); Nettie and Nellie. He studied law with John DAVENPORT and was admitted to the bar in 1847 and then practiced law in Williamsburg, Noble Co., OH for 12 yrs. For several years he has been involved in horticulture. He was clerk of Warren Twp. (2 yrs.); Justice of the Peace (6 yrs.); and Mayor of Barnesville (2 yrs.). He is best known for his essays on historical & archaeological contibuted to magazines, scientific journals, and the Ohio Valley Historical series.
