    3. Has anyone on this list come across a reference to the 174th Ohio Volunteer Infantry being from Belmont County? If you have, please post to both the Belmont and the Guernsey County lists. Thanks! -- Patti ------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 26 May 2000 12:51:43 -0500 From: Carolyn Robinson <cjrobinson@home.com> To: OHGUERNS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [OHGUERNS] OVI 174th-Guernsey Co., OH Another Guernsey Co., OH Regiment of the Civil War: The OVI 174th was commanded by Col. Jones and organized at Camp Chase, OH on Sept.1, 1864 for one year but mustered out on June 28, 1865. My husband's ancestor,Thomas Robinson, enlisted into Co. G of this Reg't on Aug 22, 1864 in Columbus, OH. He was from Oxford Twp, Guernsey Co., OH (16th Dist), although one Muster Roll says Oxford Twp, Belmont (16th) Dist. Unfortunately, I have no info as to exact troops movements and/or battles with the following exceptions taken from his Application for Pension: (1) Pvt.Robinson was honorably discharged at "Charlott", and (2) "That on the move from Tenn.to South Carolina on or about June 20, 1864" [sic., s/b 1865], he had his feet frozen due to exposure...." I would like to know a lot more about the 174th OVI should you have any info on such unit. My online research has turned up almost nothing. Carolyn
