Caldwell, pub. 1880 John BRADFIELD was b. 23 Mar 1813 at Knavesboro County of York, England. Emigrated 6 May 1827 anding at Baltimore 18 Jun 1827. Arrived in Barnesville in July, 1827 locating on a farm where he stayed until 1841 at which time he started a dry goods business. In May 1842 he married E. A. SHANNON, d/o Thomas SHANNON. They had 6 children, (living in 1880) four boys and two girls. Still engaged in dry goods business assisted by 1st and 3rd sons as partners at Main & Chestnut streets. Sells tobacco with an annual gross of thirty or forty thousand. Also sold wool from 1865-1875.
