An ancestor of mine, ARAMINTA REED SMITH, died in Clarington, Monroe county, Ohio, in 1859. Clarington is located on the Ohio River, just below Belmont county. Her obituary appeared in, I believe, the newspaper from Woodsfield, which is about the same distance from Barnesville as it is from Clarington. So, one of my questions is "What newspaper would those in Barnesville, Belmont county have read? Is it possible that they also might have read the Woodsfield newspaper?" I ask because I believe Araminta was from the Barnesville area, and her husband (or the newspaper) printed under her obit, JEFFERSON COUNTY PAPERS PLEASE COPY.....this was because her husband, JAMES R. SMITH, was from Jefferson County, and his parents and siblings stilI lived there......so, if her family was from Barnesville, why they didn't request the Belmont County newspaper to copy? Was it because the Woodsfield newspaper was the one read in Barnesville? Sandra
