    1. Fox Family Buried In Salem Cemetary in Egypt Valley

    3. I'm hopping somebody can help because I am very new to this. I was recientally told a family legend that the Fox family buried in Salem Cemetary in Egypt Valley are related. I would like to start researching this to try to prove or disprove this legend. As of now, the only information that I have is that there was a John E. & Mary A. that lived in Sewellsville, Ohio. I also know they had atleast 2 children, Louzia & Willie. As Belmont County legend goes, what happened to Louzia on Jan. 21, 1869 is known. She was 13 years, 11 months, and 13 days. That would have put her birth on on or about Feb 8th, 1855 (by my math). I am unsure if she had any other siblings besides Willie. I am in Columbus, Ohio so a personal trip to the cemetary is out of the question at the moment. I am hoping somebody from the area is familar with that cemetary and may know the answer to my question. -- "Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room munching pills and listening to repetitive music." - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989

    3. One generally starts with census records, to find out who were in the family...after 1850 people are listed by name, so it's a relatively easy thing to check through, for instance, the 1860 census, looking for the Fox family.....then try the 1870......these census will be available to you to view on microfilm at the Ohio Historical Center and probably any of the LDS family history centers there, in Columbus. Cemetery records often don't include any sort of relationships between those buried there - only if that relationship is included on the headstone....so, census records are a surer way of discovering who is the child of whom. 3. Tim - I had contacted you off-List regarding trying to find your FOX folks on the Census on Heritage Quest and Ancestry, without success. After emailing you, I was searching for the town you mentioned, Sewellsville, to see if possibly it was in a different county at one time. Well, lo and behold, during this search I came across a most interesting FOX story that was posted on Rootsweb in 2002 and am sending you the link. I'm emailing you on-List, because other Belmont Co and/or FOX researchers may find this of interest. I have absolutely no confirmation of the facts, but the given names of the FOX family you mentioned are all in this article - although the girl's name is spelled Louisa rather than Louzia. http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/FOX/2002-11/1037625445 Regards, Nancy Edwards On Dec 21, 2004, at 11:59 AM, Tim Fox wrote: > I'm hopping somebody can help because I am very new to this.
