Hi Still hunting for descendants and parentage of Nicholas Monroe who died in Belmont Co., Ohio 1853. Born about 1777 in PA. Children include: Samuel (Lydia Loller), George W. (Lydia Barrett), Richard (Rosannah ? ), Miller Nicholas (Amanda Martin), Curtis (Phebe ?), Eleanor (Moses Maring), John (Matilda Lambert), William (Margaret Anna ?), Rebecca (James Murphy) and Mary (William Hendershot). Mary, George, William and Eleanor went to Appanoose Co., Iowa. Miller's wife died, he remarried and was back in Monroe Co., in 1870. John was last found in Washington Co., OH. Samuel may have gone to Missouri. Curtis' wife died before 1843 and he died before 1869 but no record of him found during the intervening time. Richard died late 1849 or early 1850 in Somerset Township and family remained in Belmont Co., OH. Rebecca remained in Monroe Co., Ohio. Eleanor Monroe Maring descendants are well documented. One child of Curtis well-documented. His other son Martin Van Buren Monroe went to Roane Co., West Virginia. Have some information on William and George as well as some on Richard's family, but all very sparse. Would like to connect with descendants to share information and add to the data base for the descendants of Nicholas Monroe.
