Don, I need to check my records but Abner Powell of Monroe County had a son named Alfred b. abt 1813, I think, who married an Elizabeth. Perhaps your Alfred is a son of Abner's Alfred. The marriage date would be about right. Also, I have been doing some research in Shenandoah County, Virginia and have discovered an Alfred H. Powel in the early 1800's. I'm not sure how this Alfred might be related but since the name is the same, it might be worth looking into. Charlotte macslewin@aol.com
