No, Jerilyn, I can't identify your Phoebe Starkey. I have not yet been able to find the parents of Mary Jane Starkey (b. May 1828 in Ohio) ... so Mary Jane is the ONLY Starkey on my list. Mary Jane married Elias D. Pickering before the 1850 census was taken and was counted with her husband rather than with her parents. There is no record of the Pickering/Starkey marriage in Belmont Co. so it would seem that they married in Monroe Co. (where the Court House burned in 1867). They were found in the 1850 Monroe Co. census living in Enoch Twp. next to Eli's brother, Jonathan Pickering and his brother-in-law, Samuel Neptune (husband of Mary Branson Pickering). I have a collection of the census listings of Eli & Mary J. Starkey Pickering that traces them through their 50 years of marriage. [I will paste them below] As with many census records, some information is baffling! The 1880 census listing says that both Mary Jane's parents were born in PA ... the 1900 census says her parents were born in MD. I have a tendency to think that William & Letitia Starkey could be Mary Jane's parents.
