I have found an abstract deed dated 2-5-1787: Edward Morgan, of Ohio Co., sold to Hugh Gilliland 100 acres on waters of Short Creek joining James Garrison and Morgan Van Metre. This was signed by Edward and his wife Susannah. I also have an abstract will of Edward Morgan dated 6-17-1799, listing Elizabeth Gilliland and granddaughter Hannah Gilliland. I found in the History of Belmont and Jefferson County that Hugh Gilliland died in 1817 in Kirkwood, Belmont Co. My direct ancestor, Thomas Gilliland, is the son of Hugh Gilliland. Thomas died in 1845 and his wife Margaret (Cowgill) died in 1840. There's so mention when Hugh's wife, Elizabeth Morgan Gilliland died? If there's any one who has any additional information on the Gilliland Family, I would appreciate the help. I have obtained information on the Morgan family and will to share it. Linda Kent
