I found that the Gilliland property where my ancestors lived has been closed to the public due to a reclaimed strip-mining operations. This property is located about one and a half miles southeast of Fairview on a brushy hill top. A family member had tried to gather cemetery records back in 1986, but due to the closure of the area he wasn't able to gain access. Can anyone tell me if this area is still closed? Was anyone aware that a cemetery existed before they closed off the area? Also, did they take a reading of whom might have been buried on this property? If the area is still closed, could someone help me find out who owns this property. I would like to write them and see if the cemetery still remains. A lot of history on the Gilliland's and possibilty other families line would benefit to know the answer to these questions. Thank you in advance, Linda Kent Cave Junction, OR
