Hello, Please excuse the cross-posting.... I am looking for info on Flanagan (and the variant spellings) in the Belmont Count,OH area. My gr-grandfather Patrick Flanagan was born c. 1891 in Wheeling,WV and died 1928 in Buffalo, NY of tuberculosis. His wife Sarah died the next year, also of TB, and their children were raised in the German Roman Catholic Orphan Asylum in Buffalo, NY. Because the children were orphaned so young, we don't know almost nothing about Patrick and his family. We believe Patrick had a sister named Mary (who visited the sons at the orphanage in Buffalo). Patrick married Sarah Kennedy and they had several sons together: Harry (b. 1920 in Bellaire,OH), Patrick (b. 1925 in Bellaire,OH), and Michael (b. 1927 in Buffalo,NY). Michael was my grandfather. There were 2 older brothers who were raised at the orphanage as well: Joseph (b. 1916 in Bellaire,OH) and Leonard (b. 1917 in Bellaire,OH). However, my aunts think the 2 older boys were Sarah's sons from a previous marriage, and are not Flanagans. Sarah also had a daughter Catherine from this earlier marriage. All of the boys, except Michael, were baptized and made their First Holy Communions at St. John's in Bellaire,OH. I have a copy of Patrick's baptismal, which shows the surname spelled FLANNIGAN.
