Good morning, I'm new to the list, and am researching (at least) two families who were in Pultney Twp, Belmont county... I gather this would be Bellaire? The MCCOY family is (thus far) headed by Dennis D. MCCOY, born ca 1825, either PA or England. He married twice, unk. first wife, second to Martha Ann HIGGINS, in Wheeling. In 1880 census, he is in Belmont County, with sons Harry Lewis and Robert. In this household is an Elizabeth Leonard, age 86, parents born Switz., and next door is Ellen Leonard, born PA both parents born England. I think she is perhaps Dennis MCCOY's sister, married a Leonard... The WELLS family is headed by William L(egrand?) WELLS, born 1827 Monongalia County, VA. Married to Margaret MARSHALL, they had 5 children: Margaret J, West Virginia, Ida Bell, and James born Wheeling, and Emma born Belmont County Jan 1875. Emma WELLS married John FOREMAN, had children Emmett and Zelda. They are in Bellaire in 1900, father living with them. Ida Bell WELLS married Harry Lewis MCCOY, 1881 Washington County PA by Squire Isaacs. I gather this was a sort of Gretna Green? In 1932, Harry Lewis MCCOY died in PA and was returned to Bellaire for burial - I have no idea where. Actually, I don't know where any of these folks are buried or dates of death, but I think primarily in Bellaire, and maybe some Wheeling.
