I can't help you with the newspaper article, but I am wondering about your Eddy family. I am descended from Leander (d. ~1930)and Elizabeth Eddy(d.~1932). Leander lived with an Isaac Eddy, but does not appear to be Isaac's son, since there is an older Leander in the household as well. Wondering if any of this might ring a bell with you..... Hello, Hoping someone might have access to the Belmont Chronicle for 11 March of 1881 I am told there was an article in this paper for James Eddy who died in an accident at Aetna Mills in Belmont County. I would very much appreciate any help on this. Possibly giving me an idea where I could find this paper. I would be more than happy to pay for time and expense of getting a copy. Thanks in advance Cindy
Hello I wonder if someone who has access to any books on court records for Belmont County could look for a case for me. Spring 1851, F. A. Swan vs. Thomas H. Gerris v. 24, pg 185 and then appearance v. 12, pg 70. Thanks in advance. Bill Dalton
Perhaps this will help: Belmont County Ohio Before 1830.......pg. 179 Chancery Book #2, pg. 474 JAMES REED, Elizabeth Elliatt, wife of Richard & Zepheniah Reed, vs. Samuel Reed. William Reed, Sarah Reed, Ann Reed---Petition for partition......plaintiffs filed 08 Juy 1830, stating that David Reed their father departed this life some time since, that at the time of death he was seized in fee simple in his own right of SW1/4 of S.1, T.7, R.4, excepting 40 acres with said David in his lifetime sold to Adanigah & James Reed, that the balance contained 120 acres which properly descended to plaintiffs and defendants all of who are minors under the age of 21 and who reside in Belmont Co. Suit prays that each be allowed his 1/7th part. Land sold to John Denham for $600......... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sandra Ferguson" <ferg@ntelos.net> To: <ohmonroe-l@rootsweb.com> Cc: <OHBELMON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 28, 2007 8:10 AM Subject: [OHBELMON] Araminta Reed > My great great-grandmother, Araminta Reed, was born, I believe, in > Hannibal, Monroe co, in aprox. 1827. My great great-grandmother, Araminta Reed, was born, I believe, in Hannibal, Monroe co, in aprox. 1827. (her place of birth is only theory on my part, but because she was living in Clarington, and taken 20 miles or so to be buried in Hannibal, it seems reasonable to think that was where she still had parents and family.) I have found a James Reed, in the 1840 Belmont County Census, Warren Twp, that has a daughter of the right age to be "my" Araminta. Does anyone have any info on James, or any Reeds in that area at that time, that could have been Araminta's father? Sandra -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Re Yost: We have Minnie Yost married to Peter Birk. Minnie was born in Grafenheinchen Saxony, Germany - her father was Charles Frederick and her mother was Christiana Roemer. They were not from Belmont County, but they lived in Canton, Lewis, Missouri. If this may be a link, please e-mail me and I can refer you to a member of the Yost family who might be able to give further information on Minnie's ancestors. Since our main topic of conversation right now is with the Parker family, I have a question regarding a Parker member of my family. One of my uncles, living in Colorado, married an Inez B. Parker. She was the foster child of a family, whose head of the family was John Elkins. This info was shown (permission to marry) at the time of the Colorado marriage in 1917. It also stated that she was born in 1900 in Illinois. I'd like very much to find her family, although I have not been able to do so for the past 20 years. I have been unable to find her listed on any census records for that time period. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
