    3. Death records were not recorded at the state level until 1908, so any deaths before that would have been recorded in probate court at the county level. Since I did not see him in the Ohio index beginning in 1908, and you mentioned that he died between 1900 and 1910, I assume that he died prior to 1908. Most of my Belmont connections moved on in the early 1800's, and the part of Monroe where they moved to became part of Noble County in 1851, so I am not as familiar with the county resources of Monroe and Belmont, but you may want to check for cemetery records as well to try and get a date of death for Romulus. 3. Deborah, You can get a copy of her death certificate through the Ohio Health Department or their registrars. Information on ordering can be found here: http://www.odh.state.oh.us/vitalstatistics/vitalstats.aspx I took a quick look for the Romulus Brownfield you posted earlier, but he must have died before 1908, as he wasn't listed in the Ohio indexes. You would have to go through Monroe Co. Probate Court, assuming he died in Monroe Co. I did find his wife's death certificate listed as Julitte Brownfield, died 30 Jan 1919 in Monroe County. The Ohio death certificate index # is: Volume 2876, certificate 05420. You can get a copy of this certificate from a few different places: Ohio Historical Society, the Akron Public Library, and I think the Cleveland Public Library now has these certificates also Akron Public Library Alohawahine75@aol.com wrote: Good morning list, I am wondering if someone could help me obtain a copy of my grandmother's death certificate, please? 3. For those of you looking for township maps, I just stumbled across the following: If you go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page under "search" type in the county and state (Franklin County, OH) you should find a page on the county, many (NOT all) have a map showing the townships, and sometimes towns w/in the townships. Does not include roads or rivers, but it does show the location w/in the county. Hope it is of some help..... 3. I am looking for information on a Mrs. Sophia McCormick that married William Tarbet in 1856; and a Sarah E. McCormick that married Oliver Tarbet in 1861. I am trying to connect Sophia's first husband, John McCormick to the Bernard McCormick that moved to the Monroe/Belmont/Washinton County area in the mid-to late 1830's. I am trying to connect Sarah E. as the daughter of Bernard and Isabella McCormick; she would have been born in Ohio about 1838. Any help, suggestons would be greatly appreciated. 2. _http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohbelmon/belwills.htm_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohbelmon/belwills.htm) This is on the Belmont County Rootsweb site. There is an email link to use to post new wills. The link for the will index does not work, but there are exactly eleven wills posted on the web page itself. I have tried to post wills here before but have been unsuccessful, but that was a long time ago, and perhaps the system is working now. 3. Keep in mind that if you're posting your transcriptions of wills from Sampubco on the webiste that you need to include that paragaph about where you got them - I think Sampubco gives you info on what to say on the website. Also, be aware that there's no sure way to tell that a name is your ancestor. Often you can tell, but I've ordered at least one for someone in the same place with the same name who turned out to be someone else. Unfortunately, the Sampubco index doesn't include dates. And it can take quite awhile for the wills to come. They're an excellent resource, though. I've gotten quite a few wills from them. Joanne Gaudio
