    2. Julia Swanson
    3. My g grandfather was Lewis Henry Johnson. He was in the 92nd Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. His wife was Deborah Jane Jones. She was married to Levi Frazier first. Lewis was married to Lydia Hartley first. One of their sons was Guy T. Johnson, my grandfather who was born May 15, 1871? in Barnesville. Lewis' parents were David Johnson and Catherine Kincaid Johnson. Deborah's parents were James Jones and Elizabeth Robinson Jones. I can't seem to find any info on David, James, or Catherine. Does any one have any info on this family. Thanks, Julia. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. The courthouse in St. Clairsville has births 1867-1982, deaths 1867-1908 and 1940--1982 and marriage 1803 to the present. Remember, just because someone was born, married or died in Belmont doesn't mean that there will be any record of the event at the courthouse. These things were not legally required for many years, and as such, many didn't bother recording them. . You do your own looking at the courthouse, and everything is by year, so don't forget the dates you're interested in. You may make copies of the records found there. Across the street is the library, with a very nice genealogical department that includes books on the area, plus newspapers on film, cemetery records, county histories, and the census you mentioned will also be there. Rather than take up time with census on site, why don't you order them from your local LDS before the trip?.....it always seems a shame to me to travel somewhere and do there what you could just as easily have done before the trip. That way you're all ready, with the dates, names, etc before you go, and have a better idea of what you will be looking for. Do as much as you can at home, have everything ready, and know what you are looking for , and be specific (don't just write births, but say b. of Sarah Jane Lake, ? 1854).....make lists.......I think it might be a good idea for you to go to the library first, as you may find actual dates in cemetery books, early birth books,etc.....then, you can see if there is a certificate at the courthouse. I don't know the hours of the courthouse, but there phone # is 614 695-2121. 1. [OHBELMON-L] LOCKWOOD, TAYLOR
    2. Janice A. Frank
    3. My 3ggf was Noble TAYLOR, b 1776 in Albemarle Co, VA (not verified). He definitely came to Belmont Co shortly after 1800. His wife was Elizabeth LOCKWOOD 5 Feb 1778 - 6 Apr 1830. They were married 16 Oct 1798 in Cecil Co Maryland, so I had assumed her family was from there. Maybe they were, but I have found out that there were other LOCKWOODs in Belmont Co very early. I would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about them and would be most happy to exchange information. TIA, Jan

    1. [OHBELMON-L] looking for cousins!
    2. Sandra Ferguson
    3. I was just going through some of my genealogical material, and realize that I have totally ignored several possibilities for finding other relatives. MY great grandmother, Sarah J. RILEY (1854-1926) left several children by second husband, John Riley. Her son Alfred Newlin, my grandfather, was the son of her first husband, Robert L. NEWLIN, all of St. Clairsville. (as a matter of fact, finding Sarah Jane and Robert's divorce decree among my father's papers was what got me interested in genealogy in the first place!) Anyway, her children by John Riley were, according to her obituary; (1) Clarence R. Riley, of Flint, Mich. (2) Howard of Bellaire (3) Albert, of St Clairsville (4) Harry , of St. Clairsville ` Does anyone know of any of these folks? Sandra

    3. Does anyone know if the records exist for St. Clairsville Public Schools from about 1900? If so, how can they be contacted for information? 2. Sandra Ferguson
    3. I'm always glad when answers to queries are posted for all, but don't believe, in this case, the requests need to be sent to everyone on the list...they are meant for an specific individual, and as such could be sent to just that person - no one is aided in their research by someone else's question.....just the answer. I do lookups for another list, and receive many personal requests for information. I always send it to the list, so others may benefit by it.....it seems a "waste" to send it to just one, but that original question is unhelpful to anyone but me, the one doing the lookup....... -----Original Message----- From: BJHREADS@aol.com <BJHREADS@aol.com> To: OHBELMON-L@rootsweb.com <OHBELMON-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, August 14, 2000 12:38 AM Subject: [OHBELMON-L] NAMES >In response to cmays@infenet.com -- I have found others researching the same >as I by reading this "CLUTTER".
