Hi everyone, I wrote a letter to the Christian Church in Hunter requesting any information they might have on former church members and/or church cemetery records. When I went to the AOL yellow pages to check for a zip code I got the message that Hunter does not exist in Ohio! Does anyone know the mailing address for this church? I am looking for any books, lists etc about the community of Rock Hill. I understand it is or was about 3 miles out of Bellaire and Bellaire was about 4 miles down river from Wheeling. And in all of this is Bridgeport. The families I am looking for in Rock Hill are: McAllister, Wise, Thomas. From old letters I am reading I am under the impressson the West Wheeling Methodist Church was disbanded around the 1950's and was wondering where one could get the information on the old records from the 1840's as well as the cemetery records. Is anyone working on these names in early Belmont Co? I have John Chandler AYRES 1769 - 1852 m Frances Kendall FERGUSON ca 1788 - aft 1854. John was born in Virginia and I had assumed Frances was too, but she told the census of 1850 that she was born in Ohio. Because she was so much younger than he was, it is possible she was a second wife, but I don't know that. There are various men with the above names there in the early 19th c and it is possible that one of them is her father or brother but I have no evidence. It seems clear that this name gave the local spellers all kinds of trouble. I would like to hear from anyone who has encountered her. TIA, Jan
