Newspaper rarely will send an obit. Try the local library. They probably have them on hand, either in an obit file; or archived on microfilm. Sandy
These are such contemporary obits that I imagine the local newspapers would still have them in their archives.....and would send you a copy for a small fee....why not just contact them, either by mail or phone? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gail Siverling Dulgar" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, August 01, 2004 6:29 PM Subject: [OHBELMON-L] Obituaries from Barnesville and Leader-Times > Can someone please tell me who I should be contacting to obtain copies of obituaries that appeared in one or both of those newspapers? > > I am looking for Albert A. Barb, I have Delbert Dawson in my family file. According to the 1910, 1920, 1930 census, he was married to May B. who would have been born about 1871. In 1930, a Liza J. Rankin, age 88, is listed as Delbert's mother-in-law. That would make her birthdate around 1842. If this is Eliza Jane Davis Todd born 1812, she would have been 105. So...I'm confused. Obviously, you're thinking that May B. is Mabel Todd. The birth year fits, and the 1930 census says Delbert Dawson was her second marriage. But how do you explain Liza J. Rankin? Rankin may have been the name of a second husband, but her age doesn't fit to be Eliza J. Davis Todd. Could you have typed the wrong birth year for Eliza J.Davis Todd? 1825 would make her too old to be the mother of the children you listed. Like you, I can't find Delbert Dawson in 1900. Susan
If you have the History of Belmont & Jefferson Co. and would be interested in typing a twp. history or two from it please e-mail me privately. we need the following to add to the Belmont Co. page: a.. Colerain b.. Goshen c.. Mead d.. Pease e.. Pultney f.. Smith g.. Somerset h.. Richland i.. Union j.. Warren k.. Washington l.. Wayne m.. Wheeling n.. York Thanks, Carol
Researching the Todd's in Belmont County. Eliza Jane Davis b. abt.1825 married David Alexander Todd b.abt.1837. Their children: Mabel Todd b. 9/1871 married 1st. Harvey Birch and 2nd Delbert Dawson. Looking for marriage date to Delbert Dawson. Mabel married Harvey 1892. And in 1910 she is married to Delbert. I cannot find her on the 1900 Census, so I do not know who she was married to then. John P. Todd b. 6/1872 I don't think he ever married. I find him on the 1880, 1900, and 1930 Census. Cannot find him on the 1910 or 1920. In 1900 and 1930 he is living with his brother William. He died after 1933. William Todd b.8/1880 He may have never married. I find him living with his brother John in 1900 and 1930, but cannot find in 1910 or 1920. He also died after 1933. Margaret Todd b. 8/1883 married first Unknown Goodnight and then in 1906 married Ross E. Johnson. I cannot find Margaret on any census including 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930. Rosetta Todd b. 9/1875 married Kelly Boyd in Guernsey and continued living there in 1930. George Washington Todd b.2/1879 married Franki Dale Shrieve. My Grandfather Any help would be appreciated..................Thanks Barb

Hello Listers: Just a word about making contributions for the Belmont Co preservation project.... Each of us may think a small donation would be insignificant, but let's do the math. Maybe no one can contribute $100, but what if 20 people sent in $5 each? I'm sure the workers would be happy with any amount. KLL
