Bonnie, Do you know of any relationship between the David Cowan and Thomas Coen who was in Malaga twp, Monroe County, OH in the 1860 census? I have that he was born abt 1817 in PA. I don't have the page number in front of me, but it also lists his children as Elizabeth, John H, Nancy Anne, Mary Ann, Robert L, Thomas L, Susannah, Tacy Jane and Catherine. Any help would be appreciated. I have hints that the above Thomas' father was also Thomas (b 1786), but nothing solid, just someone's ancestor chart. Thanks! -- Mary _____________________________________________________________________ ICQ - 3081831 mary.daily@bigfoot.com http://www.idir.net/~medaily/ _____________________________________________________________________ The world fears a new experience more than it fears anything. Sharen - Thank you so much for these; Chandler P. Taylor of Morristown is my greatgrandfather. I knew about his injured hand because I have his Army pension papers; apparently it was a real mess, quite mangled, and of course this was before antibiotics or anything, and he was discharged on a surgeon's certificate because of it. I have pictures of him but he always conceals his right hand from the camera. You definitely did not do it all for nothing; I am very glad to have it! Someone on this list has sent me an email, saying that all known cemeteries in Monroe county have been read and that the results are at "The Monroe county library".....I inquired which one but received no answer. So, do any of you know if, indeed, the Clarington cemetery has been read and , if it has, where I might find the book? Sandra
Thanks to your help another family member has a resting place. We know now what happened to Sarah. She rests with Jean but there is no mention of Andrew who was supposed to be buried there also. Genealogy is great, you solve one problem and find two more. I wonder if some of the others may have been buried at home. The girls may have married and the boys may have moved to more exciting places. We'll keep looking. Thanks for your help. James va Hoevenberg

I've had so many responses to the different cemetery 'diggings' we found over the Memorial Day weekend, I can't hardly keep up. I'll try posting them in full & you can pick up whatever you please. Keep 2 things in mind - it wasn't our intention to write down every grave (although we tried with the very small cemeteries) and our lists are NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE. We may have missed some graves or couldn't read the stones or the stones were broken off or just didn't have time to get more names. When a cemetery name wasn't posted, we called it by what ever Road it was on or something else nearby to somewhat identify with. Secondly, I had a heck of a time distinquising between '3's & '8's, so keep that in mind. I'd ask that if you find someone that's yours but the dates are wrong, please let me know so I can correct my copy and therefore won't pass on any bad info. And PLEASE don't think that just because your kin is not listed that they couldn't still be buried there. In the places hard to read I've included the "???". I would love to hear from anyone that has found a relative on the list so I know I didn't do it all for nothing. But even if not, it was my late date salute to all the veterans and their families on Memorial Day. I know money was worth a lot more back then than today but it still doesn't seem like they received enough pension for what they gave... I am thankful to them and to any veterans reading this list. Thank you for my freedom. Sharen (Shultz) Bowers in Columbus, Ohio but my roots are in Belmont County.

Thank you, Janet, for adding that clarification about my only picking up a portion of the graves at some of the cemeteries - while I've made that comment to individuals, I should have stressed that point publicly. I'd hate to have anyone give up on a cemetery just because We didn't list their kin. We're strictly amateurs. Plus, we covered 10 cemeteries in 3 days (2 of them rainy), so it was difficult, at best, to be thorough. As a second caution, I'll add that just like everyone else, we're only human. We can write down something wrong, or translate it wrong just like anyone else. Don't take our info for gospel - take it as a starting place. Thanks, again. No, we don't have any Dickersons. We picked up the Thomas's because we've got them in a line. So far, all we have is David Thomas b. ca 1820, his wife, Sydney Edwards, b ca. 1826 and his daughter, Amanda b. 1864, who was married to our John Harvey Buskirk. We don't know for sure where these Thomas's are buried. I've got this bad (maybe not so bad) habit of once I latch onto a name, I just can't seem to let any of them go by - I snatch them all up. As a result, I've got way too many notes. Everyone has been so gracious and shown so much appreciation. I'll repeat what I've said to a few individuals - we had way too much fun 'grave diggin', we'd feel guilty taking much credit. We did it because so many people have gone out of their way to help us - it's our way of giving back. But, heavens, I'll bet anyone of you can think for about 10 seconds & come up with several names of people you've met on the web that have done ever so much more for you. Let's just say we're a couple of nice people in a great big group of really nice people. Sincerely, Nancy
