    1. [OHBELMON-L] copyright & public domain
    2. Robert W. McLeod
    3. Hi All, There seems to be a lot of concern about copyright violations lately so I thought I would pass along the website listed below. The site belongs to Lolly Gasaway, an attorney, who is an acknowledged expert in the field of intellectual property. Basically, she states, any work (of any type) made prior to 1923 is no longer protected by copyright and is therefore in the public domain. She provides a chart that is simple to interpret and graphically explains the basics of current copyright laws. With her info you can safely determine if a work has passed into the public domain. The link to her page is: http://www.unc.edu/~unclng/public-d.htm Make a print, keep it handy and be informed, ---bob

    3. Isn't this site to help others in their search & to connect with family? I have also purchased books and have been glad to share the info I have from them & have donated a number of books to different genealogical societies. When I purchased these books it wasn't with the thought to keep the information in them to myself. There have been books I couldn't afford, so I was very grateful to others who where taught to share. It shouldn't be "how much money can I make" it should be "how much can I share or be helpful with". Now can we please get back to our searches? J. Perry Tucson, AZ Buckeye born & Raised
