Elm Grove is just outside Wheeling. My family stems from there, but they were in the late 1800's. Thanks everybody, you all proved there is an Elm Grove and where it is. You all seem to have been there or lived there so now I'm wondering if any of you know of a Woods family that lived there? Thank so much for the information. Pat Researching Zane, Woods, Remnant, Porter, Pettit _____NetZero Free Internet Access and Email______ http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html

Hi Listers, I need a little help on a section or town called Elm Grove. I don't know if it is in eastern Ohio or West Virginia. The year would be around 1790. I never heard of it and was wondering if anyone else had. Thanks for any help. Listers, I am planning a trip to the Belmont CO. area the first part of Oct., for some hands on research. I am trying to get all "ducks in a row" and plot a course of action. The answer to the following questions would be a big help. I have been finding that back in the 1800's, and probably earlier, a guardian was appointed for the children, when a father died, even if the mother was still living. Has any one in the Belmont CO. area found this? If it was a practice, would it possibly have been general procedure in the early 1900s, say 1906-1910? Again, if this was a practice, would documentation be found at the probate court in St. Clairesville? I have 2 pictures of some kids and their mothers, made into postcards. On the back of one it says, "This is the bunch that has a standing engagement with the MacDonald Cottage." If one was a resident of Bellaire, where in the area might one have a cottage? The other card indicates that swimming was definitely an activity at this cottage. Any imput would be greatly appreciated. There is a Solomon CLINE shown in Indiana Co, PA in the early 1800s. Father? Belmont Co marriage records show an Isaac CLINE getting m in 1835 and a Margaret CLINE getting m in 1836. Siblings? Any help appreciated!! He's been a brick wall, and there's LOTS of CLINES in the PA/OH region. He must fit somewhere! Sharon
