    3. I was just looking at WTOV-9 website http://www.wtov9.com out of Steubenville and come across this article. I just think it is a shame that someone would do this. I apologize if this offends anyone by sending this, but I felt it was pertinent to send, especially for those of us who may have relatives that are buried there. Thieves Raid Local Cemetery Days Before Easter Dozens Of Decorative Vases Stolen POSTED: 12:00 a.m. EDT April 9, 2004 COLERAIN, OH -- Just days before Easter, thieves hit dozens of gravestones at a local cemetery. The Belmont County Sheriff's office is investigating the theft of 64 brass and copper flower vases from the Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain. The vases were a foot tall, and some had crosses on them. Because they are so heavy and there were so many stolen, police think the thieves used a truck to haul them away. If you have any information, call the Belmont County Sheriff's Office. -Eric Minor, NEWS 9 --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). 2. m Trigg?= MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Greetings Patty, et al: Some speculation & some facts from census records: One thought: might the "Mrs. Mary Bishop" age 40 who m. John Robinson, age 55 on March 31, 1874 in Lucas Co., Iowa be of interest to you? Was wondering ... quite a few of my ancestors removed from Belmont Co., & other nearby Ohio counties TO settle at Lucas Co., IA. So, wondered if some of your missing Triggs took the wagon train with them. I was surprised as to how many Wm. Triggs there were in checking around! :-) The Triggs family below appears to have been in Ohio &/or Indiana first, as was several of my line. That brought me to more of my own family who also were in Indiana before removing to Lucas Co., IA. Coincidentally, the census does reflect various Triggs in Ohio, INdiana and Iowa at various points in time, which in turn may offer clues of where to go hunting for additional family. To further lend credence to this line of thinking, found in World Family Tree Volume 125, Tree 338, that a Sarah Sally Triggs, b. 5 Mar 1803, Ohio,& d. March 1870 Lucas Co., Iowa. Now this Sarah was the dau. of William Triggs, b. 1784, Bedford Co. VA. and he died in 1813, VA. Sarah Sally m. 30 apr 1831, Lawrence Co. Ohio to John Cumpston. In 1860, GUESS who are neighbors [dwellings #869-871] to Triggs in Lucas Co., Iowa: Sarah Cumpston, age 56 and sons, Albert, ag 17, Ezra, ag 14, and Susanah, ag 11, all born Ohio ! :-) Next to her is her son, Philip Cumpston, ag. 29, b 30 June 1831 who m. on 17 April 1853 At Lucas Co., IA to Cynthia Malone. On the other side of Sarah is John Malone, ag 64, presumably, Cynthia's father & wife, Sarah, ag 62, also b VA, as was Sarah's father. Living with this John was Nancy Bowles, ag 17, b. Ind and John L. Bowles, ag 15, b. Ind.[ Grandchildren?] Not far away, at dwelling #865 is Isaac Malone, ag 49, b. Ohio and family, older ones, b. Ind. younger ones at Iowa starting with David Malone in about 1851. Sarah's sister, Charity V. Triggs who m. David G. Webb is also nearby at dwelling #860 . In 1870, Eno Cumpston, ag 44, b. Ohio, dwelling #20, & wife Eva and family are also shown in Liberty Twp., next to Isaac Triggs, ag 44, b. Ind. dwelling #21. As below, in the census records, there were quite a few Triggs living real close to each other in Lucas Co., IA. Judging from the Iowa births of the children, the guess is they removed from Indiana to Iowa about 1853. Indicating that this entire family removed from Lucas Co., Iowa, there is only one Trigg buried in the county, according to the Cemetery Book, p. 45. That was a toddler: Isaac C. Trigg, sn of I. & M.J. Oct. 29, 1865, ag 11m 23d. Little Isaac was buried at Arnold-Mills-Thomason Cemetery, Section 5, Liberty Township - aka Arnold Cemetery. Did the Trigg family remove to Kansas, Nebraska as did many others in that era ? Or, simply, a different county? Or, all of the above! :-) 1860 Fed. Census, Liberty Twp., Lucas Co. IA: info from Lucas Co., Genealogical Soc. book Dwelling #897:Was wondering about Susanah Triggs, age 65, b. VA living with Mariah, age 26, b. Indiana and little 8 yr old boy, Joseph Fountain, b. Iowa. Possible grandson? Was Mariah actually Mariah Triggs Fountain ? Or, an Aunt to Joseph? [On 11 Jan 1877, Moses Fountain, age 27, m. Malinda Carpenter, ag 19. Any relation?] Dwelling #896: Susanah and Mariah [mother/daughter?] lived right next door, on one side, to Jacob Triggs, age 59, b. VA and wife, Mary, age 56, b. Ohio, with Jacob M., age 19, b. Ind., Thomas age 31, b. Ind., Margaret C., age 7, b. Iowa, and Louisa J., age 4, b. Iowa, indicating they removed from Indiana to Iowa before 1853. Dwelling #895: Next to Jacob was Richard Triggs, ag 44, b. Ohio and wife Rachel, ag 43, b. Ohio with children Mary C., ag 7 , b. Iowa and Philip C., ag 4, b. Iowa. Since Mary C. was born in Iowa, they likely removed from Ohio to Ind? to Iowa at or before 1853. Living with them was Sarah E. Morgan, ag 13, b. Indiana. Dwelling #898: On the other side of Susanah was David Triggs, age 35, b. Ind, with wife, Mary M., age 32, b. Ind and there three children: Mary S., age 12, b. Ind; Abijah, age 4, Daivd, Jr., age 2 and John, age 1month, b. Iowa., indicating they likely migrated from Indiana sometime before 1856. Also living with David was John Neff, age 20, b. INdiana, laborer. Dwelling # 901: Isaac Triggs, age 35, b. Ind., and wife Mary, age 28, b. Ind., with children: Maron R., ag 7, male, b. Iowa, James H., ag 4, b. Iowa, and Erlinda A., ag 1, female, b. Iowa indicating they probably removed from Indiana to Iowa before or about 1853. I looked for these folks in THE CENTENNIAL HISTORY OF BELMONT COUNTY, by McKelvey.....I didn't find them but thought I'd pass along this, in case it might prove to be a son of the Wm Trigg you're seeking ----surely with an odd last name like Trigg, they are somehow related. Wm Trigg served as corporal in Co C of the 170th Regiment, Ohio Natl. Guards, organzied in May of 1864, in Bellaire....mustered out in Sept of '64. 1. Martha Trigg or Triggs 1860 Belmont County census
    2. P Drummond Jenkins
    3. Hello, I am looking for any information on Martha Triggs, she appeared in the 1850 Belmont County census as head of household: T620 TRIGGS, Martha Washington Twp She was married to William Trigg (born 1778 - died April 2, 1842.) I do not know her maiden name, nor really much of anything about her for sure. A Trigg history book by James Knox Trigg (pg. 791) tells me that Martha was born about 1794. What I'm looking for is a possible death date for Martha or marriage date for Martha (unknown maiden name) and William Trigg. From other information, Martha and WIlliam had at least 10 children, one of which also was a Martha (Betsy) Trigg (born 1818) (later to marry a Jonathan Sutton). Another child, was my great grandfather, Joseph Trigg (born 1835 Belmont County - no known death date, although it seems that he died before the 1880 census), he married my great grandmother (Matilda) Jane (Hendershot) (Trigg) VanDyne in 1857. So ultimately what I'm looking for is this: A death date for Martha Trigg / Triggs (last seen in 1860 Belmont County Census living with son William Trigg and daughter Elizabeth Trigg Bishop and Uriah Bishop) A death date for Joseph Trigg (born 1835 - last appeared in Belmont County Census 1870) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Patty (Drummond) Jenkins Miamisburg, Ohio

    3. Nancy, The only additional info. from the transcribed record done by Wes Cochran is that the applicant was Charles Robinson. There may be more on the actual record, but I think that Wes records anything pertinent that is there. Most of these marriage records before 1900 didn't have the parent's names. Have you tried finding them on the 1880 census?
