    3. FrankieHello, fellow listmembers! I will take Joy up on the offer to post our Athens County Ancestors! I descend via Daniel HERROLD who married 1) Catherine RHODES in either Westmoreland County, PA or Washington County, PA. She died in Athens, Ohio before 1820. He married 2) Elizabeth HARPER b. abt 1800, d/o Charles HARPER (b. 4 Mar 1775, Ireland) who is son of William HARPER. I am also interested in some collateral lines who married siblings: Isaac MATHENY (m. Christina HARPER abt 1837); Michael and Isaac BARKER (m. Isabella HARPER 1801 and Christina HARPER[niece of first Christina] 1804); George ALLISON (m. Sophia HERROLD abt 1850); Charles GALEZIO (m. Joanna HERROLD in 1838);Nathaniel MATHENY (m. Catharine HERROLD 1828); Thomas WILSON(m Barbara HERROLD 1835; and Sewell or Samuel PORTER (There were brothers of this name and spouse is recorded as both names, I don't know which one married Polly (Mary) HERROLD in 1835). I have a photo copy of letter from Benjamin Franklin HERROLD, s/o Daniel and Elizabeth HARPER HERROLD written to his family in Athens county. Very Interesting. He is living in LaPorte Indiana and talks of his trip to the gold fields of California, his boat trip and seeing "Dr. Mansfield" and a "Christoher Armitage and Isaac Desler on the journey. The letter is written in 1851 to his sister, Sophia. I thought, perhaps, this might be something that perhaps Joy would like to have included sometime on the Athens County page, if so, please let me know. I can read most of it, a few words I can't make out. Frankie (Linda DeFrees Franks) Soda Springs, Idaho [email protected] (Linda DeFrees Franks) Soda Springs, Idaho [email protected]
