I am descended from the following families in Athens County: HARDEN, HARDY, ROBINSON, SAYLOR, VAN VALKENBURGH, and WINCHELL, all in York Township and Nelsonville, and BRANNON in Waterloo and Athens Townships. Related names in neighboring counties are: LAZARUS and SECORD in Morgan County; KARNES, KITTSMILLER, and SEYFER in Hocking County; and SHERLOCK in Perry County. I will share information on all these families. I desperately need a portrait of my grandmother, Ethel May WINCHELL, who married Will HARDEN in 1906 in Nelsonville. My mother and her sister were born in Jobs and Nelsonville, repectively, before their mother died in 1909 at the young age of 21. I have been told that there were pictures taken at the wedding in 1906, but none have survived in our branch of the family.
