    1. Pilgrim Holiness Church
    2. Can anyone tell me about the Pilgrim Holiness Church which is or was on Chestnut Street in Nelsonville? Is it still there? I'd like to see if the church records are available to research. Also, is there a way I can access the records of those buried at Greenlawn Cemetery? Thanks! Kathy Nelson

    1. How many Darlings are here?
    2. Judy Lee Nichols
    3. I have been doing most of my research in ROSS county, and the more I find the more puzzles to add to this scenario. G-GRANDPA WILLIAM DARLING and G-GRANDMA ELLA BARNHART DARLING, birth for both, circa 1855 or 1856, lived in Ross county, born where?, no sign of when or where they passed away? They were the parents of FRED DARLING, JAMES DARLING, & REVERAND CHARLES E. DARLING. GRANDPA FRED DARLING - b. March 7, 1896, Ross Co. to d. August 23, 1985, Ross Co. No stone or sign of them in Three Locks of grandpa or Charles E. Grandpas brother or my GREAT UNCLE, JAMES DARLING, lived in ATHENS, at least in 1958. He was born December 26, 1892, in Franklin twp., in Ross county. Thanks to the gentleman, again, who, pointed me to this mailing list. If ya read this. I am new to this list, and live in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Also am looking for AGNES HART-BROWN, a daughter from ELLA BARNHARTS first marrigage, father unknown. AGNES HART maried GEORGE J. BROWN, March 2, 1891, in Ross county. Did they live in ATHENS county? Interested in talking to any second or third cousins, thank you.

    2. Jane Peppler
    3. Hello! In the IGI I find a reference to marriage between Emily Day or Dye and Joseph Burt, Athens Ohio. The date they give is 1854 but I am hoping this is an IGI transcription error - real date should have been more like 1840. If anybody has this book and could take a peek for me I would be so grateful. Thank you so much, Jane Peppler

    1. Looking for Benjamin Robinsons ancestry b. 1827
    2. Benjamin F. Robinson was born January 30, 1827 { yea, no more cir. :)} at the age of 19 he married Charlotte Conant, on March 6, 1846 in Amesville, Athens Co., OH. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Conant, of the Conants first family of Athens Co. Could this Benjamin be a connection for any of the Robinson Researchers in Athens Co.,/WV with an unknown Benjamin Robinson descendancy??? I would most appreciate you checking it out in your notes. My web page outlines this family as well as the newly recieved pictures of Charlotte Conant Robinson and Elvis Jeremiah (the aboves first son). Debbie

    3. A message received from a friend in West Virginia doing genealogy. Marions County, WV precivil war records trashed Proof that many local, state and national officials do not have a clue into public beliefs and wants. What gives anyone the right to destroy History or Public Records. The key word is Public! Why not put the books up for public auction? It would generate revenue for more shelves, microfilm machines, or lobotomies for government officials. Next election all those interested in preventing this kind of disaster need to question all candidates for public office about their stand on preservation of local, state, and national records. What about a sixties type sit-in at the court house. Doesn't the AARP have a political action lobby? Even at a local level they could exert some influence. Organize the local historical societies, any University and College History departments. The more uproar caused, the safer these records will be.

    2. Susan Bedson
    3. My great grandfather, Claudius Conklin and Sarah Katherine Cunningham Conklin lived more than 50 years in Athens County. Claudius came from Rondout, New York, he was one of 10 children born to Stephen and Elizabeth Conklin. There were 5 sons - Oscar, Elijah, Clinton, Thomas, and Claudius. I know Clinton was living with Claudius in 1920 census. There was a huge gathering for Claudius and Sarah's 50 wedding anniversary in 1921, I have a photo with many unidentifable people, I'm sure some were Conklin's and some were Cunningham's and perhaps just neighbors. Does anyone know of any of the other sons of Stephen and Elizabeth Conklin living in the area? Clinton was evidently shipped to New York to be buried by his son in Saugerties, NY. Does anyone have access to newspaper articles that would perhaps mention the wedding anniversary gathering of Claudius and Sarah in the summer of 1921? It might tell who was present. Thanks for any help! Sue Bedson

    3. Hi, In 1895 a baby boy( EARL McCOMBS) was born to RICHARD McCOMBS and LENA PARRISH in Athens County, Ohio. Would anyone have any info, birth, death, cemetary, or census, that they would be willing to do a lookup of these names for me? Am looking for possible parents and siblings of them both. Earl had a couple brothers and sisters according to his obit. He was my husband's grandfather. We have no knowledge(his grandparents were divorced when his father was a small child) other than what the obit said about his parents. Any help would be appreciated.
