    2. Debby, This is the only thing they have for the year you requested. I have visited there and that is all I could secure also. I am not sure when certificates started. Death cert same way. Ohio only started recording in 1867. Remember we are further away from VA where the country was founded and it took us longer to have the need to record. 3. Yes, the Ohio University Library does have the map in the Special Archives Collection on the 5th floor. It is an odd size, but not very thick since Athens was not that big. An example of a page from it can be seen online at the Robinson family website, it is of Alexander township Athens county. http://www.gcis.net/robinson/robinson.htm Sandra Quinn~volunteer lookup person for Athens County on Ohio Gen Web, Member of First Families of Athens County, Ohio, Member of Athens County Genealogical Society

    1. Birth records...Index and Certificate copies
    2. Hello Athens List, I mailed away for a copy of my 2nd Great-Grandfather James Thomas PERRY (born 19 JAN 1878 York Twp.) birth Certificate from Athens County Court House. Today I received a zerox copy of a page out of an Index book. He was listed on one of the lines half-way down the page with other births above and below. I asked for a Certificate which is only for the one person and list more information about the child's parents and personal data. I was curious as to why I didn't receive a Certificate form style? Why as an Index Listing? I have gotten birth Certificates of earlier dates from Virginia state Courts and was wondering why Ohio Courts doesn't do the same? Does anyone know when did Ohio state start using the Certificate forms instead of Index listings? Thanks. ~Debbie [email protected]

    1. HUDNALL
    2. Greetings....Quite a few HUDNALL families were in Athens Co. around the early 1880's and on. It appears that my gg gf Thomas HUDNALL was born in Athens Co. abt. 1827, but who were his parents? One researcher claims they are Anderson HUDNALL and Janette LATHEY while another source suggests that Thompson HUDNALL is his father. To date, there are no records found to back either possibility. Does any one know where I can access birth records for 1826-1830? I would appreciate any possible leads. Thanks...Chuck Jennings. ~~~*******Hidden on the northwest edge of the shadows cast by the "Windy City"***~~~~~~~ || | | H | | X | | X o o | | X o o | | X o o

    3. Loren, It's funny, I just found a listing of Athens Co cemeteries last nite. Checked for you, it is not listed. However, there is an email address for the list manager; perhaps he can help you. At rootsweb.com/~ohathens/ go to Athens County Cemeteries. The list is a part of the Geographic Names Information System, I believe a part of USGS. Good luck.
