Has anyone done any research on the COOKS at Meigs Co.Ohio? I am looking for Mary COOK md. Daniel Joseph WEBSTER most likely of Meigs Co.OH and later,Athens Co.OH. Daniel Joseph Webster & Mary Cook are suppose to be the parents of my grt-grandfather, Jerome Thomas Webster. My aunt could be wrong on the parents of Jerome T.Webster so, keep an open mind on family connections. Jerome T. Webster, supposed son of Daniel J.Webter is in the Athens Co.census in 1900. In 1820, there is a Moses WEBSTER living in Athens Co. who lived in Meigs co. prior. Also in 1820, there is William COOK; at Orange Twp.Meigs Co. with Augustine WEBSTER in Orange Twp and Richard COOK, at Rutland Twp.Meigs Co.OH. There are many COOKS & WEBSTERS in Meigs Co.OH in the early 1800s. I believe some eventually moved to Athens Co.OH and are buried at Coolville cemetery. Can anyone help me with Cooks in Meigs Co.OH.? I am stuck like a bug on a windshield. Thanks Donna Vaughn,Riverside,CA. Hi Terry, I have information on Lewis Davis COTTRILL lines. Actually I was very fortunate to find another researcher who had a very large file on COTTRILLs, which included my line. The file should still be on the internet. Here is the url: http://www.rootsweb.com/~hcpd/norman/COTTRELL/ANDREW It was put on the internet by a Don Norman and the file was called "DESCENDANTS OF ANDREW COTTRELL." Don had noted that the file was compiled by a Jack Cottrill of Parkersburg, WV. Below is the section that lists your Lewis Davis Cottrill. Also this files has Lewis' ancestors 3 generations back. 116.LEWIS DAVIS COTTRILL (s/o 30.ANDREW COTTRILL; s/o 5.ANDREW COTTRELL; s/o 1.ANDREW COTTRELL) Lewis Davis Cottrill, a son of Andrew and Eliza Jane (Dailey) Cottrill, was born in Meigs County Ohio January 29, 1849 and died February 29, 1889. He married Annette Love August 27, 1870 in Meigs County. The couple moved to Macon County IL but returned to Vinton County Ohio. Annette apparently died about 1880. Lewis married Leasa Hortensia Radcliff December 26, 1881 in Vinton County. Children of Lewis Davis and Annette (Love) Cottrill. 308. (1). Cora M. b.Jan 1872 Children of Lewis Davis and Leasa Hortensia (Radcliff) Cottrill. 309. (1). Arthur b.Jan 21 1883 m.Anna ------ 310. (2). Leasa Hortensia b.Jan 29 1884 311. (3). Elosia E. b. 1886 d. 1906 *copied from Don Norman's file* I didn't see any mention of his daughter Josephine. Also if you're unaware there is a Rootsweb surname list for Cottrill, however it's under the spelling "COTTRELL". By the way, my COTTRILL line is from... Andrew > Thomas > Elijah > Augustine A. > Cora B. COTTRILL who married Franklin E. DOUGLAS of Athens County, OH. Hope this helps. Thank you so much for having this surname request service. I have been looking all over creation for my Carsey line. I am specifically looking for John and Margaret Car(r)sey. I am descended from their oldest child Mary E. Carrsey who married William R. Butts. John and Margaret were born in Ireland. John was born about 1830 according to his age on the 1860 census. Margaret was born about 1838. I know from the Athens marriage records that Michael the only son in the family married in Athens as did Johanna Carsey. I don't know what happened to the youngest daughter Margaret or their parents after 1870. Can anyone help? Thanks again, Audrey Moran [email protected]

Does anyone have any knowledge of the Greathouse cemetary in Lee Twp.? I found it in a book titled "Ohio Cemetaries" by the Ohio Geneological Society. I'm curious because Greathouse is a name connected to my family line. Thanks. Terry
Just in case - I am still looking for a clue to connect the two above. I think Laurence the father of Joshua, James and possibly Robert, all born in VA. With all the Joshua King descendants in Athens - there have to be tons of you - where are you? I'll even settle for Susan Llewellyn who married Joshua - any Llewellyns still in Athens? Thanks Pat Snyder

Hello: I have been searching for some time now for info on my GGrandfather, Frank(Francis) Galligher or Gallagher as my Mother's name was spelled. His wife was Susan Galligher and she owned the restaurant and hotel in Buchtel. They lived on a farm in York Township, Athens County. I did find a newspaper notice, small as it was, in the Perry County library from the Athens Herald and Athens Jornal stating that in 1890 the Galligher restaurant was burglarized and another fact mentioned that a Mr. Atwood bought the Galligher property in 1890. Family members believe Francis died around 1894. However, no death record can be found nor an obit. Possibly it's another year but when?? Anyone have any information at all about the hotel or are there any desendants still living in the Athens County area. Any and all info would be so appreciated. Thanks for listening.
