Is there an Amesville and an Ames, or just an Amesville? I can't find either in my Rand McNally Atlas. My family records gave Ames, Athens Co., as an address, but all I see under cemeteries etc. on your website is Amesville. I'm looking for DEFFENBAUGHS and JOHNSTONS there. Nola
Hi everybody, I've been a lurker for a little while and I think sharing names is a great idea! I have only one -- and a huge brick wall!! PERRY, Ammon b. 1846 Athens County Ohio (or was a stowaway on a ship from Ireland - from years of family lore). But he did enter the Civil War in 1864 and served in the Ohio Vol. Inf. Dear Listers, I am in search of information on John and Evelyn Napier that lived in Athens, Ohio during the 1950's. They had 3 boys and 1 daughter. The girl was nicknamed "babydoll" by her family. Evelyn's maiden name was Parker. She had a sister, Carlotta and a brother, Duey. Carlotta Parker married a man named Ira Savage, thought to be from WV. If anyone has or remembers this family, please get in contact with me. Thanks in advance! Debi Foster Catlettsburg, KY

He moved around from place to place and did not leave a will. He married where a courthouse burned, he mended all his fences. He avoided any man who came to take the U.S. Census. He always kept his luggage packed, this man who had no fame, And every 20 years or so, this rascal changed his name. His parents came from Europe. They should be on some list of passengers to the U.S.A., but somehow they got missed. And no one else in this world is searching for this man. So, I play geneasolitaire to find him if I can. I'm told he's buried in a plot, with tombstone he was blessed; but the weather took engraving, and some vandals took the rest. He died before the county clerks decided to keep records. No family Bible has emerged, in spite of all my efforts. To top it off, this ancestor who caused me many groans, Just to give me one more pain, betrothed a girl named JONES! =3D=3D=3D=3D GEN-NEWBIE Mailing List =3D=3D=3D=3D Remember the newbie list has a web page at=20 http://www.rootsweb.com/~newbie/ Click on Guidelines for some free beginning=20 genealogy lessons, graciously furnished by Jean Legried. =3D=3D=3D=3D NYC-ROOTS Mailing List =3D=3D=3D=3D USGENWEB -=A0 http://www.usgenweb.org/ --------------5F60179B646EA01DAD043515--

Hi Everyone! Last week, I got into a conversation on the Virginia Roots list about the circuit-riding preacher, Lorenzo Dow. Lots of us have a Lorenzo Dow 'Somebody' in our data. Since I have a lot of information about the 'original' Lorenzo Dow, they asked if I would post a web page about him. (He was born in 1777 in Coventry, CT and died in Georgetown, DC in 1834.) Well, I ran home from work Monday and put up the Lorenzo Dow page after supper! I hope you find it interesting. He was something! I can just see him jumping out of a church window onto a horse and riding away shouting that he would be back one year from the day! He did, too! The site is: http://www.acun.com/dentons The link to the article about Lorenzo Dow is about half way down the first page. I hope you enjoy the stories! Blessings! Sue Montgomery-Cook
