I am looking for information on the following surnames in Athens County, Ohio. TUCKER, MENDER, PICKETT, GARNER, POWELL My great grandmother Emma Mae GARNER was born in Nelsonville in 1893. She had one sister Charlean GARNER born about 1897. Her parents were Rosa Ann TUCKER 1872-1919 who was born and died in Nelsonville, and Charles GARNER born abt 1871 and died before 5/5/1903. Charles and Rosa were married in Nelsonville in 1892. After Charles died Rosa married William F. POWELL on 5/5/1903 in Nelsonville. Charles and Rosa had two sons Gerard POWELL born 1905 and Donald POWELL, both born in Nelsonville. I can find no trace of information on Charles GARNER and am hoping that someone somewhere has him in their family. Rosa Ann TUCKER was the daughter of William TUCKER born 1848 in England died 1924 in Nelsonville, and Elizabeth MENDER born 1851in Ohio and died 1923 in Nelsonville. In addition to Rosa, William and Elizabeth had William (b. 1872), Mary (b.1875), Edward (b.1879), Lucy (b.1888) and Garnet (b.1893). William TUCKER is the son of John TUCKER who was born in England. Elizabeth MENDER is the daughter of John MENDER who was born in Switzerland and Hannah PICKETT who was born in Ohio. Hoping to make a connection, Tricia [email protected],com

Hi, everyone. I am descended from the following families in Athens County: HARDEN, HARDY, ROBINSON, SAYLOR, VAN VALKENBURGH, and WINCHELL, all in York Township and Nelsonville, and BRANNON in Waterloo and Athens Townships. Related names in neighboring counties are: LAZARUS and SECORD in Morgan County; KARNES, KITTSMILLER, and SEYFER in Hocking County; and SHERLOCK in Perry County. I will share information on all these families. I desperately need a portrait of my grandmother, Ethel May WINCHELL, who married Will HARDEN in 1906 in Nelsonville. My mother and her sister were born in Jobs and Nelsonville, repectively, before their mother died in 1909 at the young age of 21. I have been told that there were pictures taken at the wedding in 1906, but none have survived in our branch of the family. Can anyone help? ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Hi fellow researchers, I am researching info on Peter Vannest b. 1808-1810 in New Jersey and marrying Rhoda Ketcham in Pennsylvania, and later moving to Athens County Ohio. He lived in Prattsfork. After Rhoda died he married Mary (either Boring or Secoy). He died in 1876 (his tombstone says 1867 but his will says 1876) and is buried in Burlingham Cemetery in Meigs County. I was told he was very involved in the church aduring his life. I have a long line of decendents but no ancestors.. If these names sound familiar to anyone please let me know. LaShawn VanEst Smith
