Hello Nancy and thank you for contacting me. I check my records and could not find a Tom or Catherine Alexander. I do have several John Burns but I need to know more about your John Burns. Who did he marry - who are their offspring etc. In my ancestry search I find that the 1870 Ohio census had George Gushet (age 14) living with James Oliver ALEXANDER and Mary Elizabeth. I am fairly certain the Gushet is my ancestor GUSHARD. One family member told me they recall an "adopted grandfather" and she referred to him as a step grandfather James ALEXANDER. So it appears that James and Mary raised George GUSHARD. I am searching for info of my ggrandfather George Henry GUSHARD b. May 9 1853 Pennsylvania (perhaps Shippensburg) don't know who his parents were. George married Ella BURNS in Mansfield, Ohio on Jun 30 1883 and they raised a family there in Richland County. He died Jan 26 1936. I believe that Solomon LIGHTFOOT, Sara IRVIN (or Ervin), James Oliver ALEXANDER, Anna MILLHOUSE, John ZEDIKER are connected and I'm hoping to learn more about them. This James Oliver ALEXANDER was a private in the Civil War, he was born 1839, died 1887 and I think he married Mary Elizabeth LIGHTFOOT and they settled in Mifflin Twp. Richland County, Ohio. One census record indicates he was divorced from Ella, however his death certificate states he was widowed ??? Ella (or Ellen) is a real mystery also because we don't know where she came from nor who her parents were - nor what happened to her. For quite some time - several of these folks lived in the village of Windsor very near the Ashland County line. I think some of them lived in Ashland County part of their lives. Gene <genie@infinet.com> Hi Gene, I'll have to put off much of a reply to you until after I get my taxes done. Thank you for the info. I have very little about John Burns, can't even find who his father was. I live near Ashland and when I get time, will go to library and see what I can find for you. Also, it is only 20 miles to the OGS. Someone has submitted some Burns info there. I think it was a Mary Burns who lived on Cottage St. I will see if there might be a connection to you through them. I haven't found one for myself. But through the Mary Burns genealogy, I found a line to Fraunfelter, who is a g-grandmother on my fathers side [Gallaway] Go figure!!!! Never know when you will come across a clue!! Do you mind my asking where you live? I in Richland County Ohio. Have a Shiloh address, but live in the country on a farm, closer to Greenwich than to Shiloh. Nancy Gallaway Paramore 115 Baseline Rd. Shiloh, Ohio 44878
