Mary Sunderland was born 20 April 1782 in Grayson County, Virginia. Her father was possibly Thomas Sunderland. She married George Cochran on 21 January 1836 in Allen Co., Ohio. In the 1840 census she is living in Fulton Co., Illinois, probably a widow. In the 1850 census she is in Linn Co., Iowa. Mary died 15 June 1856 in La Fayette, Linn Co., Iowa. I always thought this woman was my fourth-great-grandmother, but now believe she was the second wife of George Cochran (although his children referred to her as their mother).
