Much info about the Metzger family can be found on Marion County websites as they first immigrated there, then many family members came to Allen County including my ggrandfather Christoph Friedrich Metzger (b. 1832) . Christian and Samuel were both born in Ohio, in Marion County; my ggrandfather was born in Graben, Karlsruhe, Baden Germany and immigrated with his parents and siblings Philipp Jacob 1830; and Phillipena 1835. Other siblings born in Ohio were Catharine, 1840; John and Christina, twins born in 1844 and Amelia born in 1849. Going back further: Phillip Metzger's parents were Johannes Metzger (1774 Baden Germany,and Elisabetha Roesch, 1777 Baden Germany. Johannes parents: Balthasar Metzger, 1730 also Baden Germany and Christina Suess, 1738, Baden, Germany. Johannes had one brother Wendel, born 1779. Eleisabetha Roesch's parents were George Phillipp Roesch b 1748 and Elisabetha Scholl, born 1753, both at Baden. Balthasar Metzger's parents were Johann Balthasar Metzger, b 1687 and Anna Barbara Herold, b 1695. He in Baden, she in Schwarzenberg, S.W. Germany. Johann's parents were Hans Jakob Metzger and Eva K. Zimmerman. Johannes and Elisabetha Metzger had these children: Johann Friedrich, b 1800; Philip,. b 1802; Christoph, b 1804; Friedrich, b 1807; Jakob Friedrich, b 1809; Magdalena b. 1811; Wilhelm, b 1812, d 1813; Wilhelm, b 1814; and Emmanuel and Konrad, twins, born 1817. Of these, twins Emmanuel and Konrad immigrated to America, as did Philip. Hope this helps someone.
