Philip Rhodes a resident of Hume departed this life at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs George Rhodes who reside near the Lutheran Church near Cridersville....... Mr. Rhodes death occurred just four days after that of his wife, formerly Miss Odessa Treece, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Simon Treece. Both were ill with influenza and pneumonia set in causing death of both husband & wife. Mr. Rhodes grew to manhood in the vicinity of Cridersville and was united in marriage with Miss Odessa Treece in 1912. They resided in Muncie Ind. for a few years and one year ago bought a home near Hume. There seems to be a connection here somehow. The Hume cemetery I believe is actually St.Matthews Lutheran Cemetery. It is located on Hume road. Philip was my grandmother's brother. Their mother's family lived behind the church from 1836 to just a couple of years ago. I will try to do some investigating and see if I might turn up something. I do have a memory card for Philip & Odessa that I could send via the computer if you are interested. It has their photos on it.
