    1. RE: [Allen Cty List] Allen County Death Certificate Advice

    3. Yolanda, Thanks very much for your response. I guess I wanted some reassurance. I guess, so far, I've been a bit spoiled by the responses that I've received. :-) I admire your ability using the phone. It seems like such a simple thing, but I've never been very comfortable on the phone which is why I have a tendency to write more letters than anything else. I do believe that I am now entering the phase where I need to use the FHL a bit more than I am. I have some film waiting at my local FHL and have to carve out some time to actually go and use it. :-) Thanks again, Robert Eberhart -----Original Message----- From: Yolanda Campbell Lifter [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, August 24, 2004 9:38 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Allen Cty List] Allen County Death Certificate Advice Be patient, I've waited up to six months for replies from various organizations. : ) I usually call the office before I mail in a request and ask for their fee schedule (and how they would like to receive payment-cash, check, or money order) and policy and always send a SASE. Many county records (including births and deaths from 1867-19 Dec 1908) have been filmed by the FHL and are available for rental from your local FHC. I wrote to the Allen County Probate Court to see if there was a record for one of my ancestors, Daniel Van Buren Eberhart, who died in 1904. He is supposed to have resided in Hancock County, Ohio. I figured that since he lived so close to Allen County, then he might have died in a hospital in Allen County. So far, I have not received response to my initial inquiry, which was well over a month ago. I do understand that our request are not a priority, but I have already received a response from Shelby County to an inquiry that was sent at the same time as the Allen County letter. > > I am wondering if anyone knows if the probate court responds to requests inquiring if there is a record on file for a death certificate, or if it is required to send funds with any request regardless of the outcome. If so, does anyone know the cost of a death certificate in Allen County, so I can remit the funds and receive a response? Alternatively, would anyone be willing to do a lookup for me to see if any records exist for this person? > > Any assistance would be appreciated. > > Sincerely, > Robert Eberhart > > > ==== OHALLEN Mailing List ==== > Allen County, Ohio - OHGenWeb Project > http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohallen/allmain.html > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
