Hello, I am looking for a little advice. I wrote to the Allen County Probate Court to see if there was a record for one of my ancestors, Daniel Van Buren Eberhart, who died in 1904. He is supposed to have resided in Hancock County, Ohio. I figured that since he lived so close to Allen County, then he might have died in a hospital in Allen County. So far, I have not received response to my initial inquiry, which was well over a month ago. I do understand that our request are not a priority, but I have already received a response from Shelby County to an inquiry that was sent at the same time as the Allen County letter. I am wondering if anyone knows if the probate court responds to requests inquiring if there is a record on file for a death certificate, or if it is required to send funds with any request regardless of the outcome. If so, does anyone know the cost of a death certificate in Allen County, so I can remit the funds and receive a response? Alternatively, would anyone be willing to do a lookup for me to see if any records exist for this person? Any assistance would be appreciated. Sincerely, Robert Eberhart
Hello, In looking at the land records from the early 1830's in Allen County I'm trying to understand where the land office in Piqua was. Was that Pickaway County? Or was it the town of Piqua? Also I find the following in "History of Allen County" but I don't find them at the www.blm.gov website. Does anyone how to find more information on land purchases like these below (and what other info exists -- if any)? In 1833, William Miller purchased section 36 of Sugar Creek Twp. In 1834, Thomas Miller purchased section 25 of Sugar Creek Twp. Thank you in advance for any ideas. Gary Miller
