EVANS LATONA, 86, died at 10:20 a.m. March 14, 2007, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Lima to Harvey W. and Myrtle I. Shortridge Phillips, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 16, 1972, she married Frank Latona, who died Oct. 26, 1981. Mrs. Latona retired as a pharmacy assistant from Weichart Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Elida. She was an avid reader. Survivors include a son, William H. (Carol) Evans, of Loudon, Tenn.; two sisters, Louise (Bill) Garver, of Lima, and Joan (Glenn) Maples, of Greenbush, Mich.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a daughter-in-law, Lynda S. Evans, of Elida; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Phillips and Linda Phillips. She was preceded in death by a son, Carl S. Evans III; and two brothers, Jack and Richard Phillips. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Dr. Ed Johnson and the Rev. Scott Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
