Hello, My Aunt was married to Samuel Franklin KNISS b. 3-5-1874, s/o James Harvey KNISS b. 8-13-1839 Shelby Co OH, married to Sophia Snyder b. 9-13-1851 IN. James Kniss was Justice of the Peace at Swan, Noble Co, IN in the 1880 census. This KNISS family ended up in Oklahoma much later. The name KNISS and NEESE are the exact same name, just different spellings. Does this James Kniss/Neece appear to be related to your family line? What is the earliest ancestor you have found for your Neece family in Ohio? Perhaps I can study it to fiund a common connection?
