Surnames: Golliday / Herman / Pflueger / Sloan / Strasburg Obituary The Lima News, January 9, 1972 EARL SLOAN Funeral Mass will be offered 1 p.m. Monday in St. Mary of the Woods Church, Russells Point, by Rev. Anthony Wolf for Francis Earl Sloan, 80, of 2005 Burch. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery near New Hampshire. Mr. Sloan died 9:35 a.m. Friday in St. Rita's Hospital. He had been ill for some time. Born April 30, 1891, in Goshen Township, Auglaize County, he was the son of Francis and Lucinda Strasburg Sloan. He was married May 10, 1927, to Estelle Golliday and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William (Beatrice) Herman of Dayton and Mrs. William (Rita) Pflueger of 2019 Burch; two sons, Earl of Arcanum and Lewis of Phoenix, Ariz., and 17 grandchildren. Mr. Sloan was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Church, the American Legion Post in Indian Lake and a veteran of World War 1. A owner and operator of an electrical supply store, he was clerk of the board of public affairs at Lakeview 37 years. Friends may call at Van Horn Funeral Home, Lakeview, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. The Rosary will be recited there at 7 p.m. Note: I am researching Francis and Lucinda (Strasburg) Sloan, who were my children's paternal gr-gr-grandparents.
