    3. Would anyone know of Jacob Eliker and wife Sarah Strayer who came to Allen Co sometime betwen 1860-1870 from Fairfield Co Ohio. Several of the children married here, but can't find Jacob and Sarah in 1880 census. Jacob b. abt 1826 Pennsylvania , Sarah b. 1834 Ohio. Pretty sure Sarah is the daughter of Nicholas Strayer & Eve Eberhart/Egerhard. Sarah named a dau Eva Barbara probably after her Mother. Eva Barbara married John R Barber. Another daughter Edna Fay married James Spyker. Would like to hear from anyone who knows where Jacob & Sarah went. Did they die in Allen Co and where buried. Thanks for any help Sue

    3. Boy, it seems like hundreds of families went from Fairfield County to Allen County. My Moyer family took that trip around 1830 I think. Where in Penn. is Jacob from? I am working to locate where my George Moyer came from. 3. Wendly, I have a hunch that your Moyer people were Mennonites and folllowed the path to Allen Cty along with many other Mennonites when land opened for purchase and a Mennonite settlement was established there. See this web page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohallen/mennohist.htm Note that there was a marriage (above piece) between Christian and Margaret (Moyer) Stemen who were among those who were part of this migration. Many of these families including the Stemen and Moyer people were from Rockingham County, Virginia prior to their entry into Fairfield Cty, Ohio. Some of the Stemen people held prominent positions in the church. Not as sure about the Moyer's. I think as part of your research efforts you may want to concentrate on the Mennonite people, and in particular in Rockingham Cty, VA as that was a Mennonite settlement there as well. See if you may find your George Moyer there. Do you know where in Fairfield Cty he was located (Township)? If you tell me that I may be able to verify whether he lived near other Mennonite families in Fairfield Cty which would be another clue.
