I had a Joseph Swisher to marry into the family. In the late 1700 or mid 1800's I forgotten which. He married Cornelius Clark's daughter Emeline. Is he any relation? The Swisher relation who told me about them has a lot more. If you are interested I can look up where and who she was? My Clark's are from Ohio. I remember they were in the census in Ohio but I cannot remember the county off hand. Kay Markham in southern Illinois. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <OHALLEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 12, 2006 6:59 PM Subject: Re: [OHALLEN] Need an obit look up please - Swisher > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Steegman, Swisher > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.allen/806.1.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Frank...thank you for the reply. > > I remember August and Glenna very well. Dear Marguerite, Thank you for looking for me. That is not my family. The name Miller is so very common, sometimes it is like SMITH! My Miller family lived in Lima, but it was a small family. John D. Miller b. 1823 and his wife Margaret b. 1821 arrived in USA in 1852-53 time frame. They were both born in Wurttemberg. They lived in Pennsylavania and had 3 kids there: John Jr, Katie, Maggie, then they moved to Lima and all the children married in Lima. JOhn and Margaret died in Lima, but John Jr died in Oregon, Katie in Lima, Maggie in Canton, and their eldest daughter Mary b. 1850 Germany, also died in Lima. As far as I can tell, this Miller family left no males named Miller in Lima, because the only son moved to Oregon. Mary Miller b. 1850 Germany is my great-great grandma, she married James A. Leach in Salem, OH and they raised their family in Salem, but after her parents died in Lima, she and James came to live in Lima, and her daughters lived there as well. Mary and James Leach both died in Lima, OH. I do already have their obit. Their daughters were: Mrs. Charles L. Mckinney; Mrs. Benjamin Lhamon; Mrs. Frank Coleman. Dear Debbie, When you go back to the library, could you look for an obit for my great-great-great grandparents? John D. Miller died 7-29-1902 Lima, OH Margaret Miller died 1-21-1905 Lima, OH I already know where they are buried, but I was hoping the obit might mention how long they lived in Lima, or where they came from prior to Lima. My problem is, that I have never found this family in Pennsylvania, yet they had 3 children born in Pennsylvania from 1854-1859 prior to moving to Ohio.
