Lima Daily News, Mar 20, 1912 John P. McCLURE, son of Samuel and Elizabeth McCLURE was born January 22, 1846 in Bath township, Allen county, Ohio and departed this life March 14, 1912, aged 66 years, 1 month and 21 days. He grew up in Allen county and has lived in this vicinity all his life. He heeded Lincoln's call in the year of '62' and again re-enlisted in '63' in company H 32nd O.V.I. and served until the close of the war. He received two severe wounds, from which he suffered until the time of his death. In the year of 1866, he was united in marriage to Lavina BRENTLINGER and to this union were born five children; two sons and three daughters and he leaves to mourn his demise a loving wife, five children, one sister and one brother, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The children are James L. McCLURE, William O. McCLURE, Mrs. Mary COE, Anna V. ZUBER and Maude E. COON. He leaves the evidence of a well spent life. He united with the Christian union church and lived in faith until the time of his death. He was a kind husband, a loving father and a sincere friend. In all an honest man.
Lima Daily News, Mar 20, 1912 Elida, Oh Rev. A.J. BUSSARD is holding evangelistic meetings at Zion church. Mrs. BROWN was an over Sunday guest of Miss Peryl FESS of Lima, and attended the dedicatory services at Trinity church. Mrs. Andy HILYARD has returned from a week's visit at Auburn, Ind. Mrs. George BRUNK left Thursday morning for Ohio City where she will spend a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles TEMPLE. Mrs. Jane HUMPHREY is quite poorly. Her daughter Mrs. Noah BRENNEMAN has been at the home the past week caring for her. Mrs. Clara PUGH of Lima, was a Friday guest of relatives in town. Mr. and Mrs. Verne HUFFER and child spent a part of last week with Mrs. HUFFER's parents at Needmore. Mrs. W.R. JONES was in Lima Thursday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. BEDFORD, the former being very low with tubercular trouble. Mr. O.E. DAVIS of Lima was a recent guest at the home of W.A. DAVIS and wife. O.F. EUSLEN, Willis HUFFER, Bert CONRAD and John LEASE attended the O.E. Benefical association meeting and banquet held at their hall in Lima, on Friday evening. Orvin SHERRICK and two children of Lima, visited Friday at the home of B.F. SHERRICK. Mrs. Charles HOLTZAPPLE and daughter Vera, have been confined to their home by illness for several days. Miss Ruth COCHRAN of Dayton, and Mrs. Wm. ZUYLANF were Sunday guests of Misses Daryl and Gay BAXTER. Warren SHERRICK of Lima, spent Sunday at his parents home. C.T. EVANS and wife of Vaughnsville, spent Sunday here with their relatives. Lloyd SHERRICK and wife of Lima, were Sunday guests of Mr. SHERRICK's parents. Mrs. Chas. MYERS and daughter, Miss Mabel, of Lima, visited Delbert McBRIDE and wife Sunday.

Audrey M. FISHER LINK The Lima News, November 21, 2004 Lima, Allen County, Ohio Audrey M. FISHER LINK, 76, died at 3:05 p.m. November 18, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born May 6, 1928, in Lima to Wilfred "Jim" and Mathilda Suever Fisher, who preceded her in death. On April 28, 1948, she married John E. Link, who survives in Lima. Mrs. Link was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society, the St. Rose Home and School Association and a former den mother of Pack 49. She was the co-recipient of the 2004 Volunteer-in-Service Award at St. Rose Catholic Church. She had been Sacristan for St.Rose Parish, was a committee chair for Lima Central Catholic High School Carnival and had volunteered for many activities at St. Rose Parish and Lima Central Catholic. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Gerard High School. She was the beloved wife of John for more that 56 years. She was a wondeful homemaker and volunteer, which were her ministries in life. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the communities of St. Rose Catholic Church and Lima Central Catholic High School. Survivors also include her children, Jeannie (Phil) Buggle of Tempe, Arizona, Ed (Mary) Link of Kettering, Terri (Pat) O'Brien of Columbus, and Susan Tambon, Jerry Link, Jim (Amy) Link, Jack Link, and Mark (Susan) Link, all of Lima; her grandchildren, Cindy Buggle Soto of Tempe, Arizona, Doug (Penny) Buggle of Canyon Country, California, Kelly Fiske and Kristina Link of Kettering, Rene and Shawn O'Brien of Columbus, Nicholas Tambon of Lima, Kevin and Jason Link of Columbus, Jared Link of Lima, Tiffany, Michelle, Josh, and Angela Link of Lima, and Aaron, Joe, Matt, and Michael Link of Lima; great-grandchildren Felicia Lupercio of Tempe, Arizona, Haley Buggle of Canyon Country, California, and Lucas Fiske of Kettering; brother John P. She was born Sept. 15, 1938, in Bimble, Knox County, Ky., to William Ray and Mary Marie Mills Fultz, who preceded her in death. On April 9, 1967, she married Arnold R. Helton, Sr., who died Sept. 26, 2001. Mrs. Helton was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, Arnold R. Helton, Jr. of Lima, Joseph Lee (Renee Leigh Mort-Helton) Helton of Cridersville and Douglas Helton of Lima; 12 granchildren; one brother, William (Patricia) Fultz of Lima; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbi Jean Sluder-Albright. Graveside services will be held Wednesday in Bradford Cemetery, Gray, Ky. No local visiting hours or services are planned. She was born June 21, 1917, in Grethel, Ky., to Tom and Martha Deal McKinney, who preceded her in death. On July 3, 1934, she married Lloyd E. Goodson, who died July 31, 1955. On Feb.3, 1961, she married David Burger, who died Oct. 21, 1991. Mrs. Burger was a homemaker. She was a devoted member of the Christian Victory Tabernacle, Wapakoneta, where she was active in many church activities. She was dearly loved by her family and friends. Survivors include two sons, Ed (Phyllis) Goodson of Lima and Larry (Retha) Goodson of Mansfield; three daughters, Lou Stech of Sarasota, Florida, and Joyce (Jim) McDonald and Brenda (Bill) Baker, both of Wapakoneta; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Adalian of California; 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a step-grandchild; a brother, Clell (Cleo) McKinney of California; a sister, Ruth Miller of Chapmanville, West Virginia; and a daughter-in-law, Helen Ruth Goodson of Boswell, Maryland. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Goodson; a daughter, Gay Goodson; a grandchild; two brothers, Obra and Herman Lee McKinney; and a sister, June McKinney. The sleet storm of Friday night put several of the telephone lines out of commission and the cars could not run on the Lima-Defiance road, until late Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Esther HUFFMAN is nursing William HEIDLEBAUGH and her infant daughter. The funeral of the infant daughter, one of the twins of Mr. and Mrs. Charles WADE, of Lima, was held at the Christian church, Sunday afternoon. Mrs. WADE was fomerly Miss Ella SLUSSER, of this place. W.C.T.U. meets this afternoon with Mrs. David JONES. Henry WILLIAMS and D.R. RISSER attended the state corn show at Mansfield. Mrs. John ACTON and Mrs. Kate SMITH visited with Mrs. Erma JONES Wednesday. Clint SEAMAN has rented Walter E. WILLIAMS house and will move there March 1. He will have a sale February 20, selling everything as he quit farming. Mr. and mrs. T.G. THOMAS of Leipsic, spent Thursday evening with Mrs. MILLS. Mr. and Mrs. John PUGH of Columbus Grove, visited at the home of Mrs. Sarah JONES, Thursday. Russell ROHRER has rented W.T. JACOBS' farm. Miss Lizzie LEWIS is the delgate from the local order to the Pythian Sisters convention held at St. Marys February 4. Leipsic, Oh Mr. John COWELL spent Saturday and Sunday at Fremont and Toledo. Ray MOTTER, of Piqua, was in this town on Saturday. F.M. BALDWIN, of Ft. Wayne, was here on business Sunday. Mr. Frank HAMMETT spent Sunday in Toledo. Miss Nettie PLACE spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Jim POST at Ottawa. On account of the storm Friday night the cars on the Ohio Electric were unable to run on time Saturday. The revival meetings at the Church of Christ closed on Friday evening. Homer PFEISTER who is traveling for the Fairbanks Soap Co., was at home over Sunday.

Mrs. James HAMRICK, who has been visiting in Toledo for some time, came home last week. Mrs. R.H. HUGHES still continues poorly. Mrs. Mattie BELCH visited in Buckland last week. Mr. Adam LOHR was taken suddenly ill Friday evening. Mrs. Dora HARPSTER and niece, Ruah McCARTY, spent Wednesday and Thursday of last week at West Newton. The many friends and relatives of Andrew PAKER were grieved to hear of his death last Friday morning. Mr. Don LACKEY and family have moved on the old YANT farm. Mr. John SMITH, of Ft. Wayne, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jabey SMITH, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Carl VANCE have gone to housekeeping west of town. On Tuesday night, January 27th, a number of friends of Miss Ruth MARTZ, gathered at her home to remind her of her fifteenth birthday. The evening was spent in games, after which an oyster supper was served. Those present were: Misses Corrine EARNEST, Vera HARPSTER, Mary LAMB, Melissa LAMB, Messrs. Rollie BUSHONG, Lawrence LAMB, Wayne SOLOMON, Lawrence WALTZ, Robert L. LAWRENCE and Dwight MARTZ. Miss Alta STALTER was a Lima visitor Saturday. Misses Lulu GARNER, Alta STALTER and Bernice MILLER; Messrs. Grant WOOD and Harry MARTZ were entertained at S.F. MARTZ's Sunday.

Boone THOMPSON of Wapakoneta, was a Lima visitor, Tuesday. Warren MELLY has returned from a business trip to Greenfield and Jamestown, Ohio. Mrs. Nellie LOWERY, a nurse of Flau Claire, Wisconsin, arrived in this city, yesterday to attend Rev. J.M. MILLS who is recovering from a severe attack of pneumonia. Mrs. Della ARMSTRONG has returned from a pleasant visit with her mother at Massilion, Ohio. Kenton couple, Walter BLACKMORE, aged 78, and his wife, aged 84, were found dead in their home last evening. A leak in a pipe filled the house with gas. They were asphyiated. Mr. and Mrs. BLANSFIELD*, though wealthy, lived alone. Both have been in poor health. The Coroner says that the man had been dead about four hours and the woman about two hours. * Both surnames given in article. Kenton, O. John WELSH, who was struck in the right eye by a piece of steel several weeks ago, will be blind as a result. When a boy, WELSH lost the sight of his left eye while at play. When he injured the other eye every possible effort was made to save the sight, but he was told yesterday that he need not expect to ever see again. Harry E. CAMPBELL, arrested here and charged with forgery and wanted in many Ohio towns, Bellefontaine among the number, was arraigned in criminal court in Columbus Monday and entered a plea of not guilty to the indictment against him. A.W. ROBERTS, of the Marion and Bellefontaine roads, was informed last night of the serious illness of his father-in-law, Janis KILBERRY, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The three children of Rev. CREMEAN, who died of scarlet fever at Huntington, Ind., were brought to Elida last week and the remains interred in Greenlawn cemetery. Mr. CREMEAN accompanied the bodies to this place. Miss Anna HILYARD is visiting friends in Indiana this week. Miss Mary VAUBLE, of Wapakoneta, was a visitor in this city, yesterday.

It is expected the excerises will be very interesting and hospitable. Several good speakers will be present. Mr. and Mrs. Enos BECHTOL, and Mr. and Mrs. N.A. CURTIS attended the funeral services of Mrs. Matilda KERSCHEL. D.S. YOUNKMAN has been very ill for several days from a complication of diseases. Alf GENSEL, of Payne was here shaking hands with his old friends. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron FISHER, of Delphos, have been here several days visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Simon FOSTER, of Middlepoint, are having a pleasant time here visiting their old acquaintances. Died, Oct 21st, at 3 o'clock p.m., Mrs. Matilda KERSCHEL, aged 56 years, 6 months and 4 days. Funeral services Oct 23. Interment at Rockport cemetery. Rev. C.J. HANCE of the Christian church after two years of faithful minsterial labor here, has been appointed by the late conference to continue services here for the ensuing year. Oct 23rd, Cliff URICH and Clara KING, Marshal JENNINGS and Mary BECHTOL, Grant RUMBAUGH and Grace McELWAIN, Bert HAWK and Alice HALL, Arthur MAUS and Vada BECHTOL, Norval HALL and Dora LEATHERMAN and others were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas JENNINGS. They were kindly received and hospitably entertained. Wm. GORE, bette known as "Billy", died a little after midnight this morning. He had been bleeding from the nose quite freely for several days, but the primary cause of death was Bright's disease of the kidneys. The funeral services will be held at his residence, on South Main street, at 2 p.m., tomorrow. Billy GORE was well known in Lima as a gentlemanly and obliging man. He came here from the East when quite young, with his parents, and had lived heree as a boy and a man for a quarter of a century. He married a daughter of widow KOCH, who lives on Union street, and his death leaves his wife a widow with one child, about two years old. His age was about 32 years. He was a member of the Lima Turnverein, and the Turners will meet at 8 o'clock this evening to pass resolutions on his death and make arrangements for attending the funeral. Orrin DICKERSON, of Paulding is here visiting relatives. Cartile BINKLEY has sold his farm and in November will move to Paulding Co. Dick KNOBLE has gone to Paulding to work at the tinner trade. He will be missed here. FURNAS, the tailor, has a new cutter, L.A. McELROY, of Ada. Miss Mary TAYLOR, of Brooklyn, N.Y., is visiting her sister, Mrs. H.W. CHILDS, of west High street. Mrs. Ellen STRANAHAN, of Hazelton, Kas., is visiting her daughter Mrs. E.D. WILLIS, 125 Metcalf street. Miss Cora YOUNG, of Canal Dover, O., is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur WATT. John HELSER, of Lima, has moved back to his old home in Jackson township. C.V. RUMBAUGH has moved into the house lately occupied by Harry BAKER. Mr. and Mrs. R. KING and others who were visiting relatives here, were suddenly called home on account of serious illness of a relative in Perry county. R. MEHAFFEY is in Knoxville, Tenn., visiting relatives and attending to important business. W.L. WILSON shipped two carloads of cows and calves to New Jersey. Mr. N.A. CURTIS reports that his sister, Mrs. KITSCHED, who lives near the county line, and who has been in poor health for several months is now in critical condition, and has been advised by her physcian to arrange her worldly affairs and prepare for death.

HOUSER and daughter, of New Bremen, visited Samuel HOUSER at the Hotel DuMont Sunday. Mr. Clem WOLFORD, who has served as freight agent at the C.H. & D. for some time, has gone to Monticello and R. REIFANEIDER, shooting with intent to kill; Keck REIGLE, assult with intent to kill; Richard CASTLE, cuttingwith intent to kill; J.W. OSEGE, for forgery.
