    3. Lima Daily Times, Sept 10, 1890 The funeral of Miss Ollie JOHN was held at the M.E. Church in Elida yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. D.R. COOK, of this city, conducting the services. She was the daughter of Abis JOHN, of Elida , and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. Her death occurred Saturday morning, and resulted from consumption. Lawyer ADGATE, of Lima, was in town last week on legal business. Dr. WISELY went over to Ottawa last week on professional business. Lou MAYBERRY and family, of Iowa, and Mrs. Martin LEWIS arrived here Saturday. Miss Lulu SHULL leaves this week for a visit in Kansas. The brick masons are through with their work at Amherst school house, and the carpenters will soon have it enclosed. It seems as though somebody had raised considerable corn in Perry, for Mr. HARROD and Henry APPLE are building a large pair of double cribs. J.B. SEVERNS, one of Perry townships's best Democrats, and a good farmer, leaves with his family next week for a new home in Colorado. Stephen DOTSON, who lives near West Minster, has quit farming and gone into the oil field. Corn cutting is in full blast, but there are no sore hands because of big ears. John FAULKNER, leader in singing at Amherst, will soon change his politics and go in the small fruit business. The farmers who didn't sell their hay during the dry spell, missed it, for the recent rains have made the pasture excellent . The child of Alpha LEEDOM, who was so ill with cholera infantum, is much better. Miss Minnie FAULKNER is convalescing rapidly. Harley MARRIOTT is on the sick list. Hogs are getting to be cheap, Unfatted hogs can be bought at 1 cent per pound and small pigs are given away. Please remember this and compare with prices one year hence. The ten schools of Perry township will soon begin their winter's work. The first will be Nos. 1 and 2 in Perry special district with C.A. GRAHAM and Wm. DAVIS as teachers. Both commencing Sept 8. H. ROGERS has come home from St. Marys for a few days to rest up a little. Married: At the Baptist parsonage, Waynesfield, O., Sunday evening, September 7, 1890, by Rev. F.P. BANKS, Mr. Samuel B. 3. Allen Co, Democrat, June 18, 1874 Mrs. Aby BROWN Suddenly of heart disease, June 3rd at her residence in Wisconsin, Mrs. Aby BROWN, formerly a resident of Lima, Ohio, and among the first settlers there. Her age was sixty-eight years. She was a worthy member of the M.E. Church for thirty years. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn her loss. On Thursday afternoon last, at Middlepoint, Van Wert county, George COLE, aged about 22 years, a son of Chancy COLE, of this city, met with an accident which resulted in his instant death. He was engaged as a brakeman on a freight on the Pittsburgh railway, and the accident happened while making a coupling, and in attempting to step back his foot caught between the rails and the plank of a crossing, the train caught his clothes and twisted him around with the wheel, breaking his neck and back in two places which of course caused instant death. His remains were brought to Lima and interred on Saturday. The family have the sympathies of our community in this terrible affliction.
