    2. Linda, I haven't seen any recent postings from you. Have you discontinued them? Or am I no longer on the list? I certainly enjoyed reading them and in fact copied two or three and mailed them to my mother-in-law, Frances Rex. I cerainly hope that you and Jack are doing OK. Best regards, John Bielstein

    3. You had me worried for a while. Never thought of the ice storm, although I'd seen it on TV and also on the online Findlay Courier. It just serves to remind me why I am in Texas. And running around in shorts. My mother might not approve. Maybe twenty years ago when I was visiting from California, where shorts were considered modest, everyday attire, and thongs were acceptable on the beach, I started out on a shopping trip to Findlay, when my Mother asked "Are you going to wear THAT? (Meaning shorts.) "Well, yes." And my Mother said - "OLDER WOMEN don't wear short to go shopping in Findlay." Ouch! But I changed to slacks. I loved my Mother. Any of you old enough to remember when long slacks were scandalous on a woman? I still remember when - about 1937 - I was walking "downtown" in McComb and met a daring young woman who was wearing MEN'S PANTS! It kept the town gossip mills going for days, and I was shocked, myself. About that time, or soon thereafter, I was wearing slacks, so maybe the standard was different for kids. I do remember you could gauge a woman's age by the length of her dress. My grandmother wore her skirts halfway between her knee and her ankle or lower. Mother wore hers closer to the knee, and, in the early forties, teenagers were wearing them above the knee. I think when the "New Look" came in (1945 or '46), and young people dripped their hemlines to close to what my grandmother was wearing, it sounded the death knell for age-prescribed hem lengths. 1. Peter Mumaugh?

    3. William Mumaugh's obituary mentions a son I have not found anywhere else: Lima Times Democrat, 1 April 1908, Page 2 Was a Pioneer Who Lived in Lima Half a Century William Mumaugh is Dead at the Home of His Daughter Mrs. Charles Doute This morning at 6:30 o'clock, the venerable William Mumaugh passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Chas. Doute, at 1102 south Atlantic avenue, after a serious illness of but two days, although he had been in poor health for several months. Deceased was a well-known contractor, and had resided in Lima for many years. He was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, February 14th, 79 years ago. His wife preceded him in death about twenty years ago. Surviving members of the family are three daughters -- Mrs. Sarah Doute, Mrs. O'Neil and Mrs. Roberts, and two sons -- Peter and Morgan Mumaugh. Funeral arrangements have not as yet been completed. [Who is Peter? No other source lists him.] [William was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima.] William's sons were named John S. [b 1854], Morgan W. [b 1861] and William L. [b abt1867] according to the 1870 census. John S. died prior to his father, and there are numerous records about Morgan W. However, I have found nothing for William after that 1870 census -- I cannot find him or the rest of the family in the 1880 census. I did find a Peter as follows: In the 1900 census, OH, Allen Co, Lima, p 221A, at 119 East Elm St, as a boarder in the household of Jacob Sundburg: Mumaugh, Peter M. Boarder W M Dec 1866, 33 Sing OH OH PA Machinist That 'Peter' would have been born about 1867, which fits for William. What happened to Peter? Was he the same individual as William b abt1867? Where was William Mumaugh's family in 1880 and 1900? I do not have a death date for William's wife, Rebecca. If she died about 20 years prior to his death, she died about 1888. Can anyone help with this fact or the others mentioned above? Ellen

    3. Lima Daily Times, Aug 26, 1889 Mayor's Court: Albert ROACH, a young man who has been working for Nick McCOY, was before the Mayor this morning on a warrant charging larceny. He was arrested by Officer MILLER and was accused of stealing a watch from Jennie WILSON, at whose house he boarded, on Railroad street, between Jackson street and Hotel French. The watch was a gold one, for which the owner paid $50, and has had it about four years. The case against ROACH was very clear, but as he has hitherto borne a good character, and was very penitent. He was let down easily, being fined $50, and given 30 days in the Toledo workhouse, for petit larceny . Frank THOMPSON who was howling drunk on Elizabeth street, South Lima, was taken in by Officers GUM and KENNEDY. He was sent down, as were three plain drunks; Wm, GRANT, collared by Officers COMER and GREEN; Albert SMITH, marched in by Officer MILLER; and John MARTIN, left in lodgings by Larry O'NEILL. About noon to-day Joseph T. MILLER and Jacob EICH, neighbors on Pearl street had a quarrel and came to blows. EICH pasted MILLER one over the left eye and broke his spectacles. MILLER got one in on EICH and marked him in nearly the same spot. A telephone message from the French house called officer Tom O'NEILL to the scene of hostilities. Both combatants willingly came down town and appeared before the Mayor, who fined them each $7.00 for disorderly conduct. The following pupils were neither absent or tardy during the school year of 88-89, GOTTFRIED, Lillian WHISTLER, Ella McCOMB, Mamie BURGOYNE, Fred EDMONDS, Eden FISK, Angie HILL, Walter AKERS, Della BOWER, Iva FISK, Laura REEL, Katie BAILY, Hattie FISHER, Alice MEREDITH, Flora REX, Orpha VAN NORMAN, Sophia WOODS, Lizzie BOLTON, Frank HARTER, Ed JEWETT, Jimmy JEWETT, Maurice MOYER, George HARPSTER, George SPANGLER, Ella GARRETSON, Flora HILL, Mabel DOAN, Nellie RICHMOND, Florence KLEIN, John BURNS, John BAUM, Fritz SONTAG, Minnie IRELAND, Willie McBARRON, Harry WILLAMAN, Carl WILLAMAN, Pierre DOTY, Riley HATCH, Fay BAKER, Fred JOHNS, Dalla KEVE, Rosa HOOVER, Charlie THOMPSON, Carrie ( some names un-readable) Jack BENNET, explosive expert of the Hercules Torpedo Company, got into a row at Shade's livery barn with Abe HARRIS, who works for James ORR. HARRIS was under the influence of liquor, and anxious for a fight. This he got, and a beautiful black eye as a result. Cheif COLVIN filed charges of disorderly conduct against both, and they will come before the Mayor this evening.

    3. My interest in this list would be in the surname DAVISSON. My gg -grandparents were C.C. DAVISON (spelling different) & Susannah REEVES who were married in Auglaize County. I have not been able to find much on this DAVISON line other than I have a Bible with their births and deaths. Any help with this line and where they may have lived would be appreciated. Thank you.
