Where in Lima would I go to obtain a certified birth certificate for myself, please? (A certified copy of my own birth record). Thanks for your reply and assistance! Bob boblin@bright.net
Ohio birth records did not start until 1867. You will have to look for other sources for their births, such as church records, family bibles, etc. If you have that many records showing the same date, it is probably correct and collectively they can be used together as your proof. Charlotte, Were you aware that Ohio is divided into different regions (I believe there are eight) that have the death records from 1908 and before (that were recorded) for the counties in the area they serve? Bowling Green University houses the records for Northwestern Ohio including Allen county. Ohio University has the records for Southeastern Ohio, and I do not remember which Universities have the other regions' records. I mention this because you indicated you are interested in "older" death records. I was unable to find a record of one gggrandfather, and Bowling Green's second search did find the record, copy and mailed it to me for a donation. This is the link you need to request a search. http://www.bgsu.edu/colleges/library/cac/ I see they now charge $20.00 for an hour of search. Steve Charter was the man who found the record for me, when he was double checking after one of their volunteers had not found what I needed. Surnames: Wentz, Cunningham, Davis Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZYB.2ACI/903 Message Board Post: I am seeking information about Mrs. Ed Cunningham and Mrs. Charles Davis and their husbands and children (if any). They were daughters of Rev. Jacob William Wentz and Mariah (Wagner) Wentz, who lived in Wapakoneta. Rev. Wentz died in 1894. Mariah Wentz died in 1904. (She was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapak, as I believe was her husband.) According to her obituary, two of their daughters -- Mrs. Ed Cunningham and Mrs. Charles Davis -- were living in Lima at the time of her death (1904). One was named Eliza C. (born c. 1861) and one was named Elizabeth J. (born c. 1863), but I am not sure which is which. I have reason to believe that Ed Cunningham served on the Wapak fire department. The obituary does not indicate whether their husbands were still living in 1904. Can anyone help me with any information about these two women, their husbands and families? You can still order it through Akron-Summit County Public Library through Dec. 1953. Gary, I was initially going to send you the obit as a jpg file, but it's taking too long to upload. So here's the text. Ken Clarence J. Meyer. Wapakoneta, July 19--Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning for Clarence John Meyer, 51, a lifelong resident of this community. He died at St. Rita's hospital, Lima, after having been in failing health for more than 20 years. Final rites were held at the St. Joseph church here with Rev. Julian Mayer officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery. His wife, Luella, two sons Clarence Jr., and Charles WIlliam, both members of the armed forces and stationed in active battle areas, and one daughter, Mrs. Dale Metzer, of this city, are survivors. His mother Mrs. William Meyer, here; a sister, Mrs Ernest Rogers, St. Johns, and three grandchildren, also survive. Meyers belonged to the local arie of Eagles and was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph Catholic church. >From: gkmeyer@hotmail.com >Reply-To: ohallen@rootsweb.com >To: OHALLEN-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [OHALLEN] Obituary Lookup >Date: 17 Sep 2006 10:08:19 -0600 > >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZYB.2ACI/901 > >Message Board Post: > >I would like to find an obituary for Clarence John Meyer who died 17 July >1944 in Lima, Ohio.
