<<I've been seeing slot about this DAR membership/record. what is this??>> When an individual applied for DAR membership, they had to fill out a lengthy application form and supply proofs that they were descended from the ancestor upon whom they were claiming membership. They also supplied information on themselves -- place & date of birth, name of husband, often whether divorced. For the descendancy, they included birth, (often) death & marriage dates & locations for the parents, grandparents, etc., up to the ancestor. The Ancestry material abbreviates this material and ususally does not include locations. I like to get the application, if I plan to go further in my research, as the locations help me to figure out where to look for records. Margaret
