I found a notation in my letter files which "apparently corrects" my original posting. State Land Office records show Section #1033 was indeed surveyed for John Crawford, but on Military Warrant #308, *not* #19. Crawford apparently sold it as P. Thomas and S. Walter obtained a patent in July, 1798. Philemon Thomas sold it in 1800 as previously posted. Alma A. Smith had just completed her book "The Virginia Military Surveys of Clermont and Hamilton Counties, Ohio, 1787-1849" when I last heard from her in January, 1986. Her letter provided this correction. Of further interest, in looking at the court record for Valentine McDaniel's purchase of 100 acres within section #1033 on 1 Aug 1800 from Philmon Thomas were witnesses Amos ELLIS, Jos. WATERS and Daniel FEAGIN. Section #1033 was just north of present Ripley, Ohio, across the Ohio River from the Dover, KY area.
