Hello, I have no Bennington ancestry that I know of, other than Nancy Ann Owens remarried to a Samuel Bennington in abt.1847 and some of the "Cox" children from her marriage to William Cox may have been adopted by Samuel Bennington. There is quite alot of research done on Samuel Bennington at "Family Search", it dates back to the 1700`s. Freelove Cox is the only one I can trace, lucky for me,she`s my gggrandmother. I was told she is a cousin to James M.Cox- Governor of Ohio 2-3terms,and ran for president in 1920 against Warren G.Harding, with Franklin Delano Roosevelt as a running mate. Your story is really interesting about the underground railroad,I would like to hear more about it,email me.
