Maysville is literally right across the river from Manchester, Adams County, OH. Before all the dams were built on the Ohio, you could walk across the river bottom. That is how the runaway slaves crossed the river to stations along the Underground Railroad in Adams and Brown Counties. Maysville would have been within walking distance from parts of Adams County.
